Completion Criteria: Credits Rolled

When this appeared last year I had quite high expectations from the trailer. Not really a sonic fan but the trailer showed great potential. Starting the game felt like it was justified fluid movement and distinct. Cutscenes had a nice artstyle and in game it looks really vibrant. Suitable OST.

I found out that those first few levels were what I'd get for the rest of the game. The game unfortunately feels quite basic and while gimmicks are added, they don't change the game really at all. Lava to...avoid. water to...avoid. The stage's designs feel very samey also with standard palletes and tiles through a lot of worlds. While there's some enjoyable worlds later, they almost feel too late. By the point you get to them, every element has been introduced and you are pretty accustomed to the movement so obstacles feel miniscule, and while the penguin chases are interesting in concept, they end up being a nuisance mainly due to how finicky some of the moves can be coming out.

When I saw the potential, it was with an expectation the game would be more innovative but the game ends up a bit too safe to recommend full price (other then the invest in indies)
