fun for a few hours but honestly this is just absolute slop

Despite what everybody says it's honestly worth your time, combat is surprisingly fun but very different to modern persona, story is simple but knows the message it's trying to send pretty well.

Biggest problems include stupid high encounter rate, a bit grindy and dungeon design being dreadful. Couldn't imagine playing this without emulator speed up.

I hate that I'm only giving this a 3 star because I want to love this game so bad, the original oxenfree is genuinely one of my favorite games of all time, yet everything I love about it doesn't make a return in lost signals. The characters in the original oxenfree all bounced off of each other pretty well, but since there is only one actual companion in this game the conversations are much less interesting. Jacob is a fine character, and I like Riley a lot, but all of the walkie talkie characters were pretty boring besides Nick I believe he was called? the sailor who honestly had a much more interesting story than the main plot. I don't know if I missed something but it would be nice to have an actual conclusion as to what happened with him as he was definitely the highlight of the game for me.

One big part of the original oxenfree, atleast for your first playthrough, was the mystery. There is absolutely zero mystery in lost signals even if you haven't played the first game. Pretty soon after meeting Jacob he theorizes that the ghosts must be part of the crew of the Kanaloa, and this also gets confirmed pretty quickly by the ghosts I believe. I get that they didn't want to waste time making Riley and Jacob slowly discover the identity of the ghosts and their true purpose as the majority of players will have came from the first game however there is literally nothing else super unexpected that happens throughout the game. It's really lame that the characters just get most of what's happening pretty early on, unlike the oxenfree cast who slowly discovered more about the events that took place all the way until the end.

There is a lot more I could write about this but it is currently 4am and it's been a couple of weeks since I finished this game anyways. I should definitely do another playthrough or two to get a real feel for the game as the original oxenfree wasn't complete until at least two playthroughs. I did genuinely like parts of this game, such as Rex and the much more adult themes, I'm just disappointed it doesn't hit like the original for me.

tldr nick is the best character ever made ever and the game is ok
