as someone who grew up with the gba remake, this is better in pretty much every single regard. so much more animated and aesthetically consistent - and all the more memorable for it. the dreamy sanrio vibes have never been done better

one of the most visually polished nes games for sure. extremely easy but doesn't overstay its welcome

it's crazy that it better visuals than the remake, isn't it?

@brockreiher i'd say it's just direction above all else. like, i think the gba aesthetic looks good in a vacuum, but it totally misses the mark when applied to adventure. kinda like how yakuza kiwami sucks because yakuza 1 wasn't designed to have y0's mechanics halfheartedly tacked onto it

there's an image comparing one of the stages in adventure vs nightmare where the former has platforms that fit in with the theming of the level, but in the latter the top parts you can stand on are just... floating in the air. i think that says it all really

Mainline Kirby is just so consistently good for the most part. I think what contributes to this is that most of his games come out near the end of nintendo systems life or posthumously when the successor is out. So the rather extensive documentation of hardware capabilities at that point leads to consistently well polished experiences.

I don't like Dream Land 3 (believe me I keep trying against my better judgement) but what hal was able to pull of on the SNES was outstanding.

@nowitsreyntime17 very fair assumption to make considering i just plowed through armored core but eh, idk maybe. i play kirby games in bursts and ive only played a few of em. i might play dream land in a few since it's like what, 45 minutes?
dreamland 3 felt very slow from the very little i played ( @toasterninja ) but i do like the way it looks. 64 looks nice too. those + an amazing mirror replay are what i'm most feeling like going through rn. gotta beat canvas curse too, which is VERY good
yeah dreamland 1 is extremely short so thats definitely an easy replay. compared to something like superstar, 3 is more of a lax game but i kinda liked that personally..64 is great too and is less slow overall so you might enjoy that more

Hell yeah, played this one recently, the final boss in this one especially has one of the most visually pleasing set pieces I’ve seen in an NES game
As someone who was never the biggest fan of this games aesthetic much (I'm replaying it rn and I still feel the same way), I'm kinda excited to see how Nightmare fares as I never grew up with that one
