Alan Wake 2 is an inspiration. So few "big" media projects wear their inspirations on their sleeve, and the ones that do often fall short of the thing they're aspiring to be. Not Remedy, not Sam Lake. It's a carefully crafted a masterwork from a matured creative and an experienced team that lives up the expectations and hype, but goes the extra mile to keep the player on their toes with a winding a narrative you can never get ahead of and a new gameplay style that is not just a new playground for Remedy, but schools games in the same genre (yes I'm talking about RE2R). It feels like the past 25 years have culminated in this experience, and yet I feel completely assured that there's more to come and that the best is yet to come. Total confidence, operating on a level so few developers are on these days.
