Idk what I was expecting with this game since I already know I don’t care for Pokémon games. The only reason I played it was because I have access to a copy.

As with basically all Pokémon games, this game is almost mind-numbingly boring at its best and just plain unfair and unfun at its worst. The selection of Pokémon in this game kind of sucks, with all of the good ones needing to be found underground.

The gyms are the only parts that I really enjoyed since the puzzles were a nice change of pace and I didn’t mind fighting the other trainers there. The gym leaders weren’t very difficult.

Traveling around was annoying because I don’t like needing to fight all the wild Pokémon and trainers along the routes just to get to the next important place. But I can’t just skip the fights since I would be underleveled. Boring gameplay loop just like always. Only really enjoyable when you can kill a Pokémon in 1 or 2 attacks.

The elite 4 are a decent challenge, but all I really had to for them was rearrange the order in which I use my Pokémon. But the champion was such a huge difficulty spike from everything else that it didn’t really feel fair. It look me like over 15 tries, a ton of grinding to level up, and spamming healing and revives just to defeat the champion.
