(im on a mission to finish some left over reviews from the games ive played and post them before the end of the year or else theyre gonna show up in the game count of 2024 dont talk to me so its been a while since ive played \insert current game\ have fun with what i remember about it)
hi its still me speed reviewing some more games before the new year starts because i love procrastinating until the very last moment of a deadline
yuffie has always been a fan favorite in the original ff7 and do i think shes charming ? absolutely but is she my favorite ff7 character ? hard to say . that being said I FUCKING LOVED HER IN THIS DLC UGHHHHHHHHH shes so funny shes so quirky she has the most ENFP ADHD borderline personality ive ever seen in the series and i honestly can relate to that and to even top that off ??? shes the cutest girl ive ever seen yuffie im literally single please
so this side story actually takes place during the main campaign and seeing the events of avalanche and midgar unfold in front of a third and external pair of eyes is so fucking cool yuffie has a completely different mission in mind but her fate ends up interwining with the one of the main party so youre gonna see a lot of nice nods to the primary story and thats such a fun expedient
since this was actually not present in the original game most of the events in this one are added and/or retconned and mainly this dlc centers around yuffies background as a character and her relationship with sonon now youre gonna ask who the fuck is sonon . WELL he was added in this game and actually acts as a good counterpart to yuffies hectic personality their relationship resembles a lot the one of a big brother and younger sister and i definitely do want sonon to care for me im kinda jealous …… sonon im free on new years eve
SO the story is fun as i said it has some good implications for the main story and yuffies character development but what stole my heart (apart from the already established gorgeous art design and landscapes) is her gameplay shes so fucking FUN to play as being a ninja she has a faster movement and combat and just traversing the world with her is such a fun time while most of the combat is the same as the base game theres enough nuance to actually make the “new” combat style more fun than it has any right to be
and what i was not expecting were the new cuts in the soundtrack that were BOOMING with jazzier directions and in general completely new songs from square since most of the ones from the main game are “just” arrangements from the original game
all in all a really good addition to an already stellar experience i didnt care for any side quest whatsoever i just breezed through the main quest and had a damn great time guys even though that ending was pretty ,,, umh lets just say i saw it from miles before that it was gonna be something like that because of course it would
