I haven't played an AA game since I was a sophomore in high-school (when I played through the original trilogy on my iPad during study hall instead of doing homework), but I decided to give this one a try and I'm so glad I did. It's a masterpiece--it made me cry more than once and also instilled in me a great desire to go back and play the other games in the franchise that I missed, even though I've heard they aren't as phenomenal as this one.
