Realistic 2024 12 in 12

12 in 12 I might actually accomplish. A different forge map I'd like to make in Halo Infinite each month in 2024. Ranking corresponds with month.

Status as of February 2024: 5/12 maps done. I also finished a different map not mentioned on this list.

Blocktown 3 - Toy map that expands on my previous toy maps to include a train, lincoln logs, and other toys. Finished January 2024

I started this map last year. Making new toys was very fun and sometimes quite challenging (Lincoln Logs, a wooden train, jacks, and books were easy; curved wooden train tracks and plastic army men were not). The new toys opened up new possibilities for a set of pieces I had already built two maps with.

Once I was satisfied with the new toys I built, I went wild making a big, sprawling map with plenty of verticality. Overall, one of my personal favorite maps from a building perspective and a playing perspective.
Luna - Low gravity map on the surface of the moon. Finished January 2024.

Luna took only a couple of hours to make, though I do have some minor tweaks planned. My inspirations were as follows: (1) low gravity + grappling hooks sounds like a nice change of pace; (2) a moon base would be a cool setting for a map.

Now that I've played the map a few times, I can say that low gravity grappling hooks are indeed a nice change of pace. I've had a surprisingly good time playing on this map.
Freezeburn - Small skirmish map inside a volcano filled with lava, rocks, and ice. Finished January 2024.

I had wanted to make a lava map in Infinite for a while, but didn't really get excited about the idea until a recent content update added ice pieces. An icy volcano is just more exciting to build than a plain old rocky volcano.

Once I started throwing rock and ice pieces down, the map filled out quickly. I typically build with simple 3D shapes that I stretch and resize as needed, so using a bunch of irregular ice sheets and rocks was a cool/blistering change of pace.

I'm pretty happy with the end result, even if the rock and ice pieces get a little janky when you scale them up in size to serve as the basis for an entire map. The jagged rocks and ice columns, somewhat crowded layout, and a lethal lava floor make platforming a little more important here than in my other maps, making gameplay pretty distinct from other maps I've built.

Overall, this one was satisfying, particularly for a quick build. I may even make an additional lava/ice map in the future.
Comet Observatory - Remake of the Comet Observatory hub from Mario Galaxy

One of the most tantalizing things about Halo Infinite's forge mode is the possibility to fully recreate classic game locations as multiplayer maps. I've already seen impressive remakes of New Donk City, Peach's Castle from SM64, Delfino Plaza, and plenty more faithfully build in Infinite. Mario Galaxy's Comet Observatory has a good layout for a Slayer map and should join the party.

Status: in progress
Pastel Panic - Finished February 2024

A simple, colorful map that seems to remind everyone of Mario Kart 64's Block Fort battle map. The idea came to me after I stared at a colorful dresser drawer for too long.
Blocktown 4

Yet another toy map, and this won't be the last. They're just too fun to make. Blocktown 4 will take place atop several scattered book stacks, with narrow bridges and catwalks galore.

Status: in progress
Shuriken - Finished February 2024

Remember the dresser drawer that inspired pastel panic? The drawer below it had a design that inspired a completely different map. Or maybe I need to sleep more.

This map has a middle structure looks kind of like a throwing star, so I called the map Shuriken. I liked the idea of a map with an inner structure and outer ring of platforms that are largely separated from each other minus some entrances and exits. I haven't had the chance to play this much yet, but early feedback is promising.
E.T. Acres

A large farm with an alien problem
Taphophobia

I'm envisioning a dirty, grimy, and sealed catacomb with an angry AI hunter roaming around.
Pumpkin Patch

One of my favorite maps I've made, "Merry Mayhem," features a snowy winter town replete with snowmen, christmas decorations, presents, gingerbread buildings, etc. I've got some ideas for a Halloween equivalent.
Polychroma 2

Shortly after Forge came out, I made some rainbow pieces with the intention of building out a larger map full of rainbows, floating buildings, and clouds. Think Rainbow Ride from Mario 64. I got distracted shortly after making the rainbow pieces, made a vehicle-only rainbow map, and never returned to make the original map I envisioned. I should get to that.
Blocktown 5

Another toy map. Also unlikely to be the last. This one will take the toy pieces I've already designed and spread them throughout a sandbox, complete with a sandcastle.
