Loved, loved, loved the game for the most part. Beautifully written, wonderful jokes, and overall a very fun time :) I cannot think of any better way a sequel or remake could have been done.
The only thing I didn't particularly enjoy was the ending / epilogue. Don't get me wrong; the inclusion of the new character and the focus on this new character in the ending was good. It's written well, and fits in thematically with the idea that the Narrator and Stanley are going to be stuck in a vicious cycle of choices and no choices forever. Did I want this, however? Not really, no. Maybe I'm a tad selfish, but I had hoped and wanted the ending to give us more information about the world and the Narrator and Stanley.
Ah well, however, this game will remain a beautiful dissertation on the nature of storytelling and writing and choices, regardless of what I want! And honestly, despite wanting different, I am glad it ended this way. It's in perfect tune to the message and the takeaway of the story, proving that the writers did understand and accomplish what they set out to do.
My favorite part of the game... hm... I'd have to say my favorite part of the game would be the writing. The dialogue and banter. It is so difficult to pull off banter between multiple voices, having it feel natural and organic to their voices -- let alone be even enjoyable to listen to. (Looking at you, Marvel.) But oh, The Stanley Parable Ultra Deluxe does a beautiful job of organic, enjoyable banter -- with just one voice to it! Wonderful, wonderful job that the writers should feel good for forever :)
But in terms of actual gameplay and jokes? My favorite part would be the Adventure Line (tm) and the bucket. Beautiful bucket. Sweet bucket. Good bucket.
