I really miss these kinds of stories. Maybe it is just the nostalgia speaking, but these fantastical stories with wizards and dragons and other magical creatures have a certain place in my heart. Now don’t get me wrong. Even though it is at times surprisingly funny, Kyrandia’s story is at most functional. But being in this mystical world - it reminded me of the joy I had as a child discovering these kinds of worlds.
Visually Kyrandia looks quite nice - I especially like some of the animations - but overall it really lacks some variation. I mean you literally don’t see the forest for the trees.
Unfortunately, the game falls a bit short on arguably the most important part: the puzzles. At best they are often tedious, at worst they might even be outright frustrating. I still don’t know how you are supposed to come up with some of the solutions if not with trial and error.
