Such a fun game and remake until you realize how long it is compared to the original. I hate to compare it to the original, but when you have to spend half the story fucking around you can’t help but feel that it’s waaaay too slow (I’m looking at you train graveyard). With that said, everything else is really phenomenal. Music is just mwah, it really makes every boss battle feel it’s best. I love how dynamic it is too—that really helps to keep the battle momentum going. Speaking of battles, I love that it’s super action heavy but still gives you a lot of room for strategy with how you use every character; this makes me super excited for the next game and hopefully being able to switch them out whenever and try new combos!

Even though I hate how slow the game can be, the times where it makes the characters just talk normally really sells them to me. Like hearing Tifa randomly do a President Shinra impression on their way to the reactor adds so much that you couldn’t normally feel in cutscenes. I love times like that! The only thing that holds the game back is the pacing and some of the story. Like I know what’s happening and how meaningful changes are only because I played the original; everyone else is just going to be confused (like my sister, who ended up just watching a 2-hour lore video to know). Either way, it’s still super fun and cool to play. Without this coming out, I probably would’ve never tried the original out in the first place and gotten into Final Fantasy.
