To say the game a bit of a mess is an understatement. It absolutely should not have been released in the state it was in. Even now, three years later, it still doesn’t feel fully cooked. Bugs are everywhere, none of them gamebreaking for me, thankfully. But even when nothing is wrong, I still feel like the game is being held together with duct tape, and hope and prayers. If we ignore all the bugs and instability, if the game was released in a perfectly polished state, I still wouldn’t get what I wanted from it. What I wanted was more Fallout: New Vegas and less Far Cry 2077. But still, despite all that, I had a blast.
The world they created is incredible. The lore, the characters, the architecture, the clothes and the cars… Everything is top tier shit. Even the UI design is amazing. And the music… Oh, the music.
The gameplay ain’t too shabby neither. When it isn’t bugging out, at least. The story is great, especially the characters, and the dialogues, and the relationships between them. And the side stories are the best part for me. However, this being an RPG, I feel like the lack of choices in a lot of these missions leaves a bit to be desired. Overall, I really enjoyed my time with Cyberpunk and really think they made something special. But I also can’t ignore all the flaws. If this were a smaller release, I would be much kinder. But it isn’t. It’s a huge fuck you AAA game with an insane budget, and celebrity voice actors, and empty promises. I genuinely had a great time, but I don’t feel comfortable rating it any higher than this.
