Ah yes, Link's Awakening. One of my absolute favourite Zelda handheld games. In general, this one and the Oracle twin games hold a special place in my heart. I was psyched when they announced that the Switch will finally get a Zelda game. Now I finally played it and besides some problems it is fantastic. The world is beautiful. I love the little tilt-shift style. The characters are lovely. The dungeons are awesome. But although it is a remake you feel its high age. You get the wise owl to guide you but sometimes there is a real clue where to go. Sometimes bosses need a specific attack, that was never told. So you use every item several times to see what attack is the right one. This was not a problem when I was a young boy and had all the time in the world. But now I am old, working, cleaning the house, trying to cook. I just want to sit on my sofa and play through it with some easy puzzles. If this is not a problem for you then you're ready for an adventure running up and down, left and right the beautiful island of Koholint. The next thing is that despite the purposive graphic Link's Awakening still runs 100% smoothly on the Switch. I know the Switch is no PS5 or Xbox One but come on. This is a little Zelda game. Nonetheless, it is a mighty fantastic one. It has a few rough edges but as a huge Zelda fan, this is great.
