It's a game that was originally planned to be DLC for Valhalla and got expanded to full fledged game, although with the idea of being smaller in scope than the usual AC game. And it shows, for the most part the story doesn't really go anywhere until you start to near the end of the game, as if the story needed padding to fill the expected length of a full game. Gameplay is good, the usual AC gameplay loop, although combat feels like a repetitive dance of waiting for the right time to parry and then instantly killing most enemies with a counterattack. You acquire new weapons and outfits in the game, but these rarely feel like they make any difference - with the exception of a special set of equipment you find by collecting Isu shards spread across Baghdad. Stealth gameplay successfully hearkens back to the early years of the franchise where being a silent assassin was the main goal - and although it may seem like stealth lacks challenge, it's still an enjoyable experience.

Assassin's Creed Mirage is a solid, fun game that sometimes feels like it's overstaying its welcome and maybe could've remained as an expansion for Assassin's Creed Valhalla, but if you liked the more scaled down gameplay of pre-Origins Assassins's Creed, you'll find plenty to enjoy.
