It really sucks how many people never gave this game a chance because of the IP and concept. The extensive movement available in a single turn and the options you have for kit customization gave me a strong sense of pride as my team's identity developed across the game. My biggest issue is the restrictions on who you put on your team: I used Mario, Luigi, and Rabbid Peach for pretty much the whole game and felt discouraged from using anyone else. The late-game puzzles also felt like a bit of a slog, and the game ended a little abruptly. But otherwise, this is a really great tactics game.

This game uses the medium to its advantage and explores creativity and burnout in a very insightful way. It's one of the most emotionally impactful games I know of. If you want something fun, maybe this isn't for you (no judgement). But if you like experimental and artsy games that make a statement, this is one of the best.

This may sound biased since it's my favorite game ever, but it's for good reason. In my opinion it's a masterpiece and no game comes close to achieving the same feeling. The game constantly gives you new ways to play to supplement the awesome songs, and I personally loved all the controls. The vague story is exactly what I want out of a game like this. If I were to nitpick, I'd say Heartbreaks I and II were great but paled in comparison with the rest of the game. I love the entire Lovers section SO MUCH.
