In each of my subsequent playthroughs of disco elysium, I learn so many new things about this game that I feel like I'm playing it again for the first time. As I've become more and more familiar with the game, the parallels between my home state of West Virginia, and the slums of Martinaise have become clear as day. I realize that the developers were writing this story with the perspective of being born in the pre/post-soviet Baltic states, but both West Virginia and Martinaise are nowhere-ville places that once had a labor history, scarred by a failed uprising (The Battle of Blair Mountain) that was lost long ago, and has since succumbed to the cheap, short term pleasures of capital, and the fervent mental safety that fascism provides. Its these parallels that I think makes this game so important to me. It tears me up that things have come to this, but I also believe that the fight for equality will never stop.

Genuinely what is your excuse for not playing/beating this yet. I want to hear the people speak.

I think what I love most about balatro is just how raw it is. Theres no plot where I have to play poker hands to defeat baddies, no characters or really any meta progression outside of unlocking things, which can be avoided with a code. It honestly doesn't feel too far off from something like windows solitaire or minesweeper. Balatro doesnt waste its time with any fluff because it knows that must fun part of it is entirely decision making and neuron activations from number going up, and I love that.

ok but please add another song to the game please i can only listen to the same song over and over again for so long

sonic generations is the kid who became a cop fresh out of high school

you may clown on bidoof in middle school but ive never seen a platinum playthrough without at least a bibarel.

sinnoh has a lot for me to hate and a lot for me to love. too many goddamn HMs! genuinely some of the most beautiful music in the series! Team galactic has 0 swag, stacks no paper! but one of my favourite things about this game has so many comfy locations that are so, hangout-able. Floarama town is such a cute little place, I could see myself wanting to settle down there. Eterna forest's music made me feel like I was 8 playing this game for the first time again. anyways I like froslass, she's a cutie.

Pokemon fools gold is a hack that changes every pokemon into a mandela effect version of themselves. it's a concept that's familiar enough for me to enjoy breezing through it, but different enough for me to feel excited (or disturbed) everytime i see a new pokemon! I love a lot of the new forms, but my favs would prolly be persian, they're so cute!

wow gamefreak this is the best gamecube game I've ever played!

Growing up, there were no shortage of DS minigame collections. As a kid I saw these games from what they truly were, nothing but Cheap Cashgrabs for Kids who are too stupid to judge for Quality Video Games.

now at the age of 22 ive actually really enjoyed cooking and I feel bad for what i mightve said or thought about cooking mama! Very cute mini game collection, pretty chill, I cooked a lot with my mom too. my main complaint would be that mrs. cooking mama does not understand that fast cooking does not equal better tasting food. like I'd get if we were in a restaurant setting or something but why do you care so much that I need to cut this onion properly in 15 seconds or less? it's tuesday and I just got home from work, give me a fuckin break

this game just starts and says "good luck fucko" and sends you into the fastest shmup youve ever played.

youre basically required to stay at the top of the screen and get risky, because otherwise you just get swarmed with enemies you cant break through.

Music genuinely goes insane, crazy fucking famicom rave music that makes me wanna do that lain dancing gif irl

I'm not photosensitive so the flickering didnt bother me but I'd definitely want to see it remade/remastered with the flickering remove so that more people can play it

It feels like someone wanted to make a game and failed, and then made a game about their experiences with playtesting it and turned it into a long gag.

I think I first watched markiplier play this back in 2013, so I saw no reason to play it for myself then. I was worried a lot of the jokes would miss the mark now after 10 years considering meta irony and surrealism is now basically the default sense of humour for zoomers on the internet. But shockingly, I managed to get a good laugh from a lot of the jokes still!

I could say something clever about how this game deconstructs the nature of choice in video games or something but I think all of that has been said to death at this point, so I'll just say the game is funy :)

cocomelon for people who look like northernlion

I probably would have loved this if I had played it in 2016

I have to say its a testament to how well done the voice acting is when I forget while playing that all the characters look like they were made in a newgrounds dress up porn game

I know I'm probably doing a "getting a lot of boss baby vibes" bit when I compare this to zero ranger, but this is like the only shmup that feels compelling to beat without credit feeding. also side note, I know most of yall probably play this with turbo but ngl I actually like mashing fire more when I use an arcade stick? idk hitting big buttons a lot just feels innately satisfying to me.
