Unlike the souls games, I don't think I ever felt cheated whilst playing this. It always feels like it's on you for failing, which makes it so much more rewarding when you do succeed. Also one of the best feeling games I've played, and I'm struggling to find something that compares in terms of the clinical hand-to-hand combat.

There were a couple of technical issues on PC (FPS lock, 21:9 support), but they were fairly easily fixed by community mods. Would have probably been frustrating to play this on release though.
