Played on Nintendo Switch Online
It's been fun to explore these Game Boy classics under a new lens through Nintendo Switch Online. Super Mario Land 2 is another game which I've previously played through years ago, and returning it today makes the dust and crust all the more clear. The game has some seriously unique stage designs, perhaps some of the most unique in Mario history. The hitboxes, however, are a bit too funky to fully enjoy these stages, and the last stage is so difficult that I ended up abusing the suspend feature of this version. Evidently, losing all your lives in the final level requires re-fighting all of the game's other bosses!
