Order of Ecclesia was the only one of the DS Castlevanias which I hadn't completed yet, and in it I found an interesting but flawed game. The core gameplay of whipping and slashing is as good as ever, and genuinely the most challenging of the GBA and DS Castlevania games. The glyph mechanic allows for a lot of creative options without getting caught up on item stats. The structure of the game itself isn't what I'd want out of a Castlevania game--its stages are distinct and linear instead of being an interconnected map. This is somewhat rectified by the end, but half the game is walking through nearly straight transitionary stages. Additionally, the aformentioned difficulty may be a tad bit too high, though I could see others taking that as a positive. Altogether a good entry into the series, but not quite the highs of previous entries.
