gen 5 has the best gyms and i will standby that, but otherwise there's not much it can call its own. unova is too weird of a region, limiting your pokemon to only gen 5 is a crazy decision (not a good thing)

nah it was pretty epic, let you do a whole team of new mons

? you could still be able to do that even with other pokemon from different gens in the game if you wanted lmaoo

yes but this forced you to, and no matter where youd go youd be seeing new mons..it was like gen 1 all over again. And even then you had the old mons in the post game

imo forcing the player to use only new pokemon makes not only the generation of pokemon stand out, but it makes the games far more memorable for their identity. compare it to dpp where like a third of the new pokemon were extremely inconvenient to get until platinum, and even then still. the generation was balanced against itself and it created a unique meta for in-game playthroughs as well as comp.

Nah it made the Gen 5 Pokemon more distinctive; the problem with some later gens was that outside of Regional Variants the new mons got flooded out by picking your old favorites.

i can definitely see where u guys are coming from, but i just think that essentially holding the ppl who play it at gunpoint to only pick the new guys hurt the overall image of that generation in general. it's true that u can just pick ur favs with no incentive to pick those who were newly added, but i think a good testament to a gen that stands out on its own is picking the new ones over ur favs, whether out of curiosity or how they nailed it with design or whatever else. imo at least having the option to pick would be nice
