In Spitkiss you fling spitwads from one point to another, using walls as springboard and avoiding obstacles. It's a single-screen platformer -- no scrolling here. The story is cute. There aren't any words to speak of but the zany hijinks and cheerful art never fail to amuse.

The game does feel right at home on mobile. The touchscreen controls work perfectly. You pull back and let go, just as in Angry Birds and the like. A line shows a preview of your trajectory, so there's never any guesswork involved. Time doesn't stop while you're aiming, though, so a little dexterity is still required.

The game isn't very long -- it took me perhaps 2 hours to reach the end credits. I'm split as to whether it ended just as it was getting interesting or if an extra hour or two would've soured the experience. Considering I didn't feel much motivation to dive into the extra post-credits content, it's probably a good thing the game ended when it did. But if you're looking for a cheap, ad- and microtransation-free indie to entertain you for a couple hours, you could do a lot worse.
