A game that has held up surprisingly well despite its age. I got a lot out of it and really fell for its world and characters. It goes without saying that Yasunori Mitsuda created one of the best soundtracks ever made for this game. They do a lot to spice up turn based combat and it definitely stands out among similar RPGs of the time.

One of the absolute best games in the history of the JRPG genre. Chrono trigger is such a high quality game, an incredible party system, flawless music, fulfilling exploration, a great story, and most of all endless replay ability with all the different endings. I wish I could experience it again for the first time, but experiencing it for that 10th time is just as fulfilling.

It feels almost disingenuous to me to say this game "holds up", because to me that implies there is a caveat to the quality of the game. It is just an absolutely fantastic game experience, with amazing music, fun in the party variety, exploration of zones, and the boss fights being fun but not too hard.

My only bad note for the game, and I'm not counting it against the score, is the DS added content. The Lost Sanctum is so brutally bad it makes me wonder why it was added in the first place.

The absolute pinnacle of classic, 2D JRPGs. Meticulous pixel art, a wide cast of vibrant, endearing characters and an engrossing time-twisting story make this an absolute must-play.

As an enormous compliment to this game as a roleplaying experience I will have to be honest and say my brain essentially works like how that damn final boss shows random places from throughout the game lol

This is why I change pfps like 30 times a month
