A port of Devil's Crush

The game was ported to the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis and retitled Dragon's Fury (Devil Crash MD in Japan) by developer Technosoft. The controls are identical, and other than some minor cosmetic alterations there have been no changes to the main table. The higher resolution of this port allows for a status bar to be displayed on the right side of the screen and the visuals are a bit brighter and more washed out due to the limited colors of the hardware. Complete all the hidden stages to beat the game.

They did not need to go this hard for a goddamn pinball game.

One of the coolest pinball games ever. Ball physics are surprisingly fantastic for a game made in 91 and the overall aesthetic oozes atmosphere. As someone who does play real pinball all the time it gets over the hurdle of "Why would I play this over an actual table" by taking full advantage of the video game medium by giving you enemies on screen and bosses to destroy. Good luck getting to that final boss though cause you're gonna be playing for close to six hours straight to hit that score requirement.

Some of my favorite gamified genres take dioramic activities and flex the impossible through digital. You take a physical game that's been peppered with mock fantasy elements, and then use the virtual environment to fully-realize that wonder. A real pinball table could never have you fight a breathing, disfigured Beelzebub head, but video games? Yeah throw that shit in.

It's just one table with boss fights accessible through special rooms, but it's so damn good within that space. The physics hold up, the theming is rock-solid, and the spriteart can get genuinely mind-blowing at some points. Technosoft's conversions of the original OST work perfect for Genesis as well. You can even use password saves to play with bonus remixes from Technosoft's bibliography (which honestly don't sound as good as their originals but are still cool).

Twenty-second GOTW finished for 2022. What a BANGER of a pinball game! The music, the atmosphere, the graphics, the gameplay are all amazing. The bonus dungeons felt super fun and just the right amount of creepy, and the difficulty didn't feel unfair. Had an absolute blast playing this one multiple times, can't recommend enough!

A simple pinball game, why not? But don't let that fool you, as this game is sure to impress more than pinball wizards. Devil Crash features impressive graphics, sound, and interactive "bonus stages", while its memorable soundtracks add an unparalleled sense of speed to the game. Devil Crash MD takes virtual pinball to a whole new level in this console game, the table becomes so animated it will make you forget you're playing a pinball game at all. Lasting about an hour to beat by an experienced flip stick warrior, the game doesn't lack content, featuring many boss battles, only a few will make it to the boss - "King Demon", reserved to those worthy enough to top its High Score leaderboard.
