I finally get to feel what it's like to be a badly designed boss

While the dlc provides some additional context to the events and characters of the first Gears of War, it also feels inconsequential, especially when played after finishing the original Gears trilogy. There's some fun to be had here for sure, but the Raam gameplay is lacking depth and I encountered several bugs during my playthrough, including one that could only be fixed by restarting an earlier checkpoint.

A continuation of my chronological playthrough of the Gears of War series. A fun short sidestory that provides more insight on Minh, sets up Jace from Gears of War 3. Playing as Raam is a treat and unique when compared to standard COG gameplay.

Raam's Shadow is a decent DLC. I liked that Michael Barrick was the playable character as he's one of my favourites in the Gears lore. It would be neat if we got an entire prequel game centered around him. It was also cool getting to play as RAAM who is easily the best villain in the franchise at least in terms of badassery and pure visual aesthetic.

It doesn't introduce anything new gameplay mechanics wise but its always enjoyable seeing more of the legacy characters who got killed off like Minh, Tai, Barrick etc.

One flaw I guess other than the length is because its a prequel we know pretty much all the characters will survive so there's really no tension with them facing off against RAAM. Valera is the only fatality but we barely knew her for it to make a big impact.

Its worth playing for hardcore Gears fans but not essential for casuals!
