Gex 64 was the Nintendo 64 port of Gex: Enter the Gecko. This version featured a new level, which replaced the secret levels. "Gecques Cousteau", which is centered on the RMS Titanic, is played almost entirely underwater. The only land parts of the level are at the entrance to the Titanic, which is sunk by the iceberg. Other changes include fewer bonus levels and fewer quotes, due to the Nintendo 64 cartridges storing significantly less data for games than CDs. Some of the sound effects were altered slightly.

Bland levels, with one of the worst cameras on the system, all held together with the most nothing burger of a mascot ever.

Gex 64: Enter the Gecko is a quirky 3D platformer oozing with 90s attitude. Gex delivers a barrage of wisecracks as he hops through levels inspired by movies and TV shows. It's undeniably charming, but the joy is dampened by frustrating camera controls, awkward jumps, and overall clunky gameplay. If you have nostalgia for this era of platformers and don't mind the flaws, it's a trip, but modern audiences might want to steer clear.

It's tail time. Even as a kid I think I acknowledged that this game wasn't good, yet it is still seared pretty deeply into my brain.

Yeah this game is rough. Gives me a headache. I do love Gex though.

Gex is the keeper of the gate between games that feel worth having played, and games that you feel a little more unique for having played. I think he's on the good game side. Maybe?

Gex 64 has its charm, but that doesn't save the boring repetitive stage theming and tedious level design of the later stages. This version has an exclusive Titanic inspired stage, but it honestly isn't worth your time. Play Gex 3 instead.
