Better than the first one in almost every aspect, however, the costume-specific achievements are really stupid (not because they're silly or anything, it's just that you have to buy a 3 costume dlc for about that much EUR). Other than that, the crucible broke me, the proving grounds were significantly easier than el infierno from the first part and overall the gameplay itself is better, by adding onto the already built first game's mechanics. (also I played on PC, as I had all DLC, but the complete edition doesn't have PC listed as such)

Guacamelee 2 is a great sequel to a great game. The two minor things I missed from the original was the story and the cast of villains. Other than that this game tops the original in every other category.

The Easter eggs, humor, music and gameplay, especially in chicken mode, are just simply better than the original. Guacamelee 2 offers more of a challenge if you are willing to go the extra mile and do every thing the game has to offer. But if you’re not into that they left the base game as a fairly standard difficulty for a Metroidvania.

I am hoping this series continues someday but even if it doesn’t I know I will be revisiting these games in the future. The makers are clearly in love with video games as the game oozes creativity and celebrates the medium with so many Easter eggs that it’s almost impossible to catch and remember them all. So hopefully this love will keep them continuing to give us more gems in this series. The Guacamelee games are fantastic platformer Metroidvanias with tight control and combat that are worthy of your time.

Hey it made my top 100

Here is where I place it among the Metroidvanias I’ve completed.

I’m so glad I got on Reddit at 1 in the morning and saw these games were on sale.

Guacamelee 2 takes everything from 1 and makes it bigger, better, and funnier! Everything down to the music, enemies, gameplay, humor, etc.. are amazing and had me itching to play again every time I put it down.

The only thing I think that the first game has on this game is the main antagonist, but that’s just from a design aspect. Other than that, the Devs really honed their craft with this game, and goes way up on my list of metroidvanias!

Now I have to go ice my thumbs from all the crazy challenges that this game offers!

I don't know. This is more of the same from the first game, which I enjoyed very much, so I should love this game as well, right? Well, I didn't.

The humour this time around felt forced and not funny, and when they include the meta-aspect (the game knowing it is a game) they loose me, and the homages to other games (SF2 and Limbo among other) just takes away from some of the magic from a truly uniqe game series.

The fighting combos is still not properly baked into the gameplay. I could not find any situation where I was able to chain the fighthing combos you learn at Flamehead's gym. And when there's like 15-27 enemies in som instances on screen I even have problem seeing where I'm at, resulting in hack and slash button mashing and hoping for the best.

The upgrade system is alright but again, the fighting moves you learn = waste of time and money.

Almost finished with the game (82%) but couldn't be bothered when I didn'd find it fun at all.
