NHL 23 is decent. There are a lot of modes, although almost everything here is a rehash from a previous entry and still needs some work.
Skating isn't bad, but it does feel stiffer than in years past. Goalies are overpowered, even on the lower difficulties.

16 Cups won in franchise Mode
I hate this game so much. It's a buggy mess and the AI is poo poo. Gm mode and be a pro mode are so barren and it's been the same gameplay just touched up since NHL 10.
Can't wait for NHL 24 to be on game pass so I can put another absurd amount of time into this franchise.

Genuinely a good sports game, but its very technical at times. It's not casual and has a big learning curve. Do not expect to score easily like you do in FIFA. In NHL 23, you need actual skill, timing and knowledge of the sport.
Well.. for people not familiar with Ice Hockey (beside the old games played for fun) this game is not really accessible. There is a huge lack of a training camp or any other form of structured learning. I wish the game would teach me the meaning of the controls not only show me which button press does what. Due to this game structure, the learning curve is only guided by the in-the moment pop-up tips. That’s not quite helpful considering how quick the game is.
I’m sure the is much in it for fans and veterans but if you want to check out the game be aware that it isn’t holding your hand at all. What a shame considering that other EA Sports games already have cracked the code in this regard.
