Pop Breaker is a puzzle shooter game for the Sega Game Gear. It was only released in Japan. Piloting a hovertank named Diana, Yuki Takeshita is a high school student who is taking the entry exam for FSWAT - a newly formed defense force. There are 50 levels that the player must complete, controlling Yuki's hovercraft from an overhead perspective and navigating through a board-like environment.

This game starts kind of neat and fun and then nosedives into being tedious, not well thought out and frustrating. If there is one thing you don't want in your puzzle like game is bad controls. It's a shame the game isn't well refined because I could see it being decent especially for an early Game Gear game.

I do like how you can choose what position you want the gun and the intermission graphic looks really pleasing. Though I swear this game has a girl on it just to sell you on the game though I guess you could argue even good games do that. Either way it's best you just don't bother with this one. Wish I could give it more love but I'd be lying if I did.

I tend to play any Sega thing with cute box art, and I get burned a lot…including with this one.

This is a puzzle game of the fussiest tier. The controls are awful, the sound is grating and the game just seems to actively hate you. It’s genuinely not worth a play I don’t think!

There’s a cute screen in between levels though!

Clunky controls and so-so puzzle design makes this a forgettable puzzle game for the Game Gear. It's decently long at 50 stages, but I don't see why you'd want to bother with this one. Don't be fooled by the cute anime girl on the cover, this is just another early 90's handheld puzzler that's best left forgotten.
