it's fun! still puyo puyo! but it looks and sounds significantly worse so there's no reason to ever play this over the genesis version.

Yippee I love puyo puyo with sound that makes me wanna rip my ears off!

Not a bad port though it lacks a lot of the charm of the 16-Bit counterpart.

A version of Dr Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine for the Game Gear and Master System. This features much simpler graphics, but due to the more limited colour choices, I can actually tell them apart a lot more, so I can actually play it much better than the Mega Drive version.

Another addition to this version is the puzzle mode. It gives you 30 challenges with a set-up of beans and an objective, such as eliminate all beans of one type, getting large combos or just getting rid of all beans. It’s a really nice addition to the game, one that elevates it to be better than the Mega Drive version.

Puyo 1 moment. This is pretty much the same as its 16-bit counterpart, though the 8-bit character portraits go hard. This game even has a whole nazo puyo mode that isn't even in the 16-bit version so this game arguably has a lot more content in it.

Trust me, you do NOT remember how brutal this silly Sonic spinoff was. The tiny Game Gear screen, paired with speeds too fast for the naked eye, make this match-4 arcade have damn near speculative gameplay, fun as it may be to link colors together.

The enemy portraits in this thing are incredibly expressive. The people making this were hopped up on something.

Nearly all subsequent Puyo games are better. This one also feels worse than the 16-bit version.
