I had fond memories of this game but coming back to it recently I found that it doesn't hold up well in the slightest. Racing mechanics feel undercooked and loose, and despite there being three modes they all feel barebones, with very little content to be found.
I don't know anything about this game outside of the hours I spent playing this game's city mode. And I really liked that mode! But there were other modes... which means like only 30% of the total game was worth anything, at least to my child's mind.
Me and my brothers have put an insane amount of hours into City Trial over the years that we've owned this game. Holds an incredibly important place in my heart, and also it's a really fucking good multiplayer game.
THE HOLY GAME OF GAMES. THE ONE ABOVE ALL OTHERS, ONE GAME EQUAL TO THE GODS, HERO OF LIGHT ENEMY OF EVIL, THE GREATEST THING MADE BY MAN, THE HOLY ARC THAT WILL CARRY US INTO THE FUTURE
A heavily underrated party game. City Trial is always a blast alone or with friends. The other modes are more fun with friends, but this game has never not been a good time.
I really wanted this to be a secret masterpiece, but I just wasn't feeling it. I'm just not a huge kart racer fan. The City Trial mode is a cool idea, but it's too chaotic to really be fun.
