MASSIVELY OVERPRICED but fun little DLC starring Yagamis cool as fuck partner Kaito. Was suprised how good of a main character he was this go around and the twist and turns in his personal story are really solid. His gameplay as well feels incredibly well done with Tank being so fun to mess around with in mob fights.
All of that sounds nice and dandy until you realize the story and combat is all you're getting out of this THIRTY DOLLAR STANDALONE EXPERIENCE. Kaito gets no new substories or substantial activites to call his own which is a massively missed opportunity for him. The only real optional stuff has to do with his dogshit new detective mechanics which feel so much worse than LJs (which is definitely saying something). Also lots of moves are locked behind memory points which might be the worst new collectible I've seen in an RGG game. Also while I do like the story some elements definitely feel rushed (there's no real main villian until the final chapter).
Can't say I was really dissapointed with the Kaito FIles but feels like a lot of missed opportunities to give the gorilla a chance to shine. Only pick up at a low LOW price and go in with the expectations of incredible combat and a solid story.
Final Rating:6.5-7/10

Good DLC. Reminds me of the old Yakuza games how they could give you a complete mystery in 10 hours. Really nice story with Kaito at the center, hope some of these characters are relevant in the next Judgment game.
My only critique is that I wish they’d play with Yakuza storytelling conventions a little more. Felt a lot of fatigue with Lost Judgment and a bit less fatigue here, but still.

Only flaws are that the combat styles are mostly reused from Yakuza 0 (though they don't feel the same), no replayability because of the awful skill remembrance and no new game plus, the dlc is also overpriced which is not very nice but this story and fights are pure unfiltered kino.
The final fight gave me nostalgia of the early Yakuza bosses.

A wonderful addition to an already perfect game. The DLC enhances the game tenfold and feels like a stand alone game. However, the DLC on it's own, while it has interesting ideas, fails in the execution and is missing very vital pieces that make this franchise so endearing. Mostly the noticeable lack of side content and lack of dynamic intros. Other than that a very valid purchase and a wonderful addition to the Ryu Ga Gotoku franchise.
I don't have much to say about this, to be honest. It's short, it's pretty fun, Kaito was fun character in the base game and he is here as well, showing that he can definitely carry his own story. Still, this does have quite a few flaws despite being a good time. Kaito's battle styles, that are basically Kiryu's Brawler and Beast, are decent, but don't really come close to the fun I had with Yagami's styles, and the mystery is basically explained through two extremely long exposition dumps (think that entire, awful chapter with the senator in Yakuza 3, but slightly better handled and more than once), and the main villain turns out to be not only "Soma, but much less hot", but he's also so 11/10 evil that it's impossible to take him seriously in any way (though he does get some cool villain moments), which is strange since his main lackey, Kenmochi, is a layered and really interesting character whose archetype has never been seen in any RGG game as far as I can remember. Also really unfortunate that the final boss ends up being so dumb, and basically an incel power fantasy, but it is what it is.
So yeah, it's certainly not fantastic, but also don't think that it's really bad just because I spent an entire paragraph complaining about. It's got a nice, short length with a story that suits the runtime, and has some very good moments and a couple of fun new characters (that may stick around for future games even!). I also do want to stress that Kaito not being as fun to play as Yagami does not mean his combat is bad or even boring. It's just a bit more basic and to the point.

Considering this was RGG's first story expansion, they knocked it out of the park. The story is solid, the new fighting styles really fit well into the Yakuza style, and the climax is brutal. Probably one of the most raw climaxes in the whole series. If you own Lost Judgment, you should definitely pick this up, full stop.
Short but a great story. Kaito's a great character and he's put through the wringer here with a terrific scenario that, much like the main game, once it got going I couldn't put down.
I can't ignore the limited price-performance but at a discount I'd recommend this to anyone who likes Judgment. Kaito's a lot of fun to play as with his style and the new 'detective' type features are fun. It definitely doesn't wear out its welcome either; I'd have loved some proper side stories.

Neat little story expansion that gives Kaito some much needed screen-time even if the amnesia and Shirakaba thing is completely pointless.
Definitely not worth 30$ however, 4 chapters 0 side content, the whole thing took me about 5 hours and Kaito's combat is basically just Brawler and Beast style without any of Yagami's flair (no leapfrog or wall jumps), not really all too creative.
