I love deckbuilding games, but I found this one to be so boring....
The art is quite engaging though. I feel like it would work better as a multiplayer board game.

O game é um rogue-like de carta, pique Slay the Spire.

Damn right when it's getting interesting the campaign is over and then like... you just don't have any other campaigns to do. lol. oh well.

bon twist de la formule Slay the Spire

Playtime: 8 Hours
Score: 6/10

Fun little card/rogue like game that I enjoyed quite a bit. I am a big fan of Slay the Spire and I picked this game up since it was similar experience with some key differences.

To start with what I enjoyed, I liked the addition of you having a party of characters as opposed to Slay the Spire's single hero combat system. It felt more like an RPG which has always been my favourite genre. You start with two characters and can recruit more as you go along, with you being able to eventually unlock more heroes to have at the start. I also like the equipment system and being able to equip your characters with different armour and weapon cards was very cool. And like Slay the Spire you can run into various different random events as you play which I liked as well.

The negatives really are just the game got tedious for me after a while with a lot of the runs starting to feel the same. There was also one specific boss that I could not for the life of me beat, no matter how many times I tried. The bosses you get per run are randomised and if I ran into that specific boss, it was basically a game over for me before the fight even started. I'm also not a big fan of the ruin and banish system in this game. Slay the Spire has its own similar system but I feel it was implemented better then in this game. At one point I was in a boss encounter in which I had already killed the boss and most of his minions expect for one. I could not kill the final minion because all of my attack cards had been either banished or ruined making it a situation where I just had to abandon the run and lose all the XP I had gathered. I think this was due to one of the heroes I had recruited secondary ability, which is on me for not understanding, but at the same time it just shows how broken some of this games mechanics can be at times. I also prefer Slay the Spire's approach to characters, as each of the heroes have their own special deck of cards, encouraging you to almost change your play style depending on who you pick. This game sort of has that with the equipment system and a few unique cards for each character, but it just didn't feel as satisfying to play and unlock everyone.

Overall this was a fun experience, but I ultimately prefer Slay the Spire to this.

I hated Slay The Spire at one point, I like it now, but this is the game that convinced me that the game genre was fun. Banners of Ruin is, in my opinion, a more fun STS at every turn. More complexity to it's combat, multiple characters and more "classes". All strung around by a lineated roguelike experience that is good, but limited in it's scope. Very fun though, the DLCs I'm still deciding if I like.

This game is currently in the Humble Choice for July 2022, this is part of my coverage of the bundle. If you are interested in the game and it's before August 2nd, 2022, consider picking up the game as part of the current monthly bundle.

Slay the Spire in the Animal kingdom.

Banners of Ruin has players choose two starting characters, with only the Mouse and Bear available, but four others promised. From there, players have three lanes on screen at any time and have to choose one of the lanes to advance the cards and tackle different events. Normal battles are challenging but there are also elite battles that consistently wrecked me.

The entire game involves building your deck, and equipping items onto your characters, then tackling events to see what happens next. In battle, you’ll draw cards, and each of your characters can use them. Character placement can matter, as does the items characters have equipped. The experience here is both challenging but interesting and will entertain players of deck builders.

Pick this up if you already enjoy Slay the Spire. There are enough changes to the formula, from the party system to the equipment that will greet fans of the genre with something fresh. But I’m not sold on where it will place in the pantheons of deck builders. Still, it’s unique in some of the elements it tries

Recomendado

I'm addicted to the game. Addicted to the game because it's a strategy card game with many different scenarios and outcomes. Even without the DLC, the game is already fun by itself. The game is really hard, I'm telling you that. It is not easy, you need to be like a big-brainer plan to complete the game. I beat the game only once, ONCE!!

Absolutely obsessed with this deckbuilder. It's my favorite of one of my favorite genres!
(...even though I'm kinda bad at it)

Simple and well done really good music

A hard card based battler, but interesting art style and enjoyable mini plots of moving through events in the game.

The gameplay just as good as slay the spire imo. There are multiple races and the combo's between them feel satisfying. Each class levels up with unique talents and passives. You can equip them with weapons and armor for ingame effects. The truly unique part is that you can recruit additional members. That really increases complexity and you're not glued to a single character class the whole run. Art is also top notch (something spire unfortunately doesn't excel in).

So why only 3.5 stars? The runs are quite short. That means that if you play this a whole lot (like after multiple successful runs) there isn't enough variety for my taste. They DID help fix that with additional assassins to hunt you down and multiple optimal challenges.
What it comes down to is that this is one of my fav games of the genre, but i just wanted there to be more of it.

I'll say try it out when you like slay the spire and can pick it up for cheap. You won't be disappointed by giving it a few spins.

Good
- Pretty beautiful artstyle.
- An interesting take to the roguelite card combat system with lanes and grids.
- Combos between classes.

Meh
- Per run is a little short.

Another deckbuilding roguel. Complex to the point of being interesting but not bogging down the player with inscrutable decisions. Also, you play as cute animals. Good stuff.
