Completed with 100% of trophies earned. Minerva's Den is an excellent self-contained narrative expansion to the Bioshock 2 story, and despite it being a long time since I played the base game (on PS3!), it's great to be back in Rapture - which remains among the most compelling game worlds yet created. Tightly-designed setpiece encounters and particularly a (perhaps expectedly!) compelling plot with a typically-shocking twist make Minerva's Den a highlight of my time with the first two Bioshock games.
Absolutely phenomenal, quite easily the best bioshock game which takes the best from both previous entries. It combines the fantastic level design from the first game with the ingenious combat scenarios from the second game as well as utilizing the second game’s great combat system. As well as creating a story that easily triumphs both predecessors on twists and emotions alone. A beautiful farewell to rapture and easily one of the best dlcs i’ve ever played
Honestly a very surprising entry with a narrative to match my intrigue. Gameplay was smooth with new abilites that kept combat feeling fresh, although I did default to Winter's breath and Freezing drill since that combo is nutty. The narrative twist was nice and well constructed, and didn't feel overbearing or bland.
Great DLC. Interesting story in a new zone of Rapture (great atmosphere too), with some new equipment. A bit short maybe, it took me like almost 3 hours and a half to finish it playing slowly and trying to explore everything, I read on the internet that the duration is between 4 and 5 hours, but even tho I recommend to play it.
I’m a little bit taken aback by this one. I enjoyed Bioshock 2 plenty but I didn’t find the story particularly impressive, especially after Bioshock’s stellar story, but this DLC - which I’d almost considered skipping - has a story which comfortably surpassed both prior stories, in my opinion. This truly is the greatest story set in Rapture, and not just the best DLC I’ve ever played but a damn great game in its own right. An absolute must-play.
An outstanding goodbye to Rapture. The story here is excellent, with a luster that easily outshines the base game. It almost makes me wish that this DLC was the main story, as its themes are more akin to that of the first BioShock.
The gameplay is even more streamlined here, with the newer weapons and abilities keeping combat fresh. Upgraded weapons are now looted off enemies, keeping the progression steady and allowing for experimentation. The characters and enemies more intriguing, considering that this is a population ostracized from an already secluded city.
