this game is soooo underrated i seriously recommend playing it, it has great humour, amazing scares, and visually it reminded me a lot of outlast if it were a pixelated horror game

this is one of the most godless rpgmaker horror games ever honestly. it has a really suffocating atmosphere and i think it beats out witch's house with how impactful its twists are. there are so many easter eggs in this game that make revisiting the game very worthwhile; it's incredible how the devs paid so much attention to the smallest details in their game! would definitely recommend this game for people who love scary rpgmaker horror games, but make sure you have a friend to support you after you finish it, haha.
Definitely one of my favorite RPGhorror games as of late! Extremely well executed horror (that stamina bar made me groan when I saw it load for the first time)

The story is fun and the concept interesting, a modern girl stuck in a loop of a haunted house. I believe it's worth it's price and the jump scares are really good. Give it a try
A short and successfully creepy game, with a fun heroine and a pretty solid plot. It was quite enjoyable!

Deceptively interesting story with some pretty good twists. Enough left ambiguous to be mysterious while allowing to forgive possible plot holes with the excuse of "Its probably explained but I just don't get it".
Puzzles fairly simple and chases aren't very frustrating. Jumpscares are very creative and I wouldn't call any of them cheap.
The dialogue is also a pretty realistic representation of someone being thrown into a life or death horror situation.

I like this one overall, mainly due to the protagonist who is a total moron with cute sprites and all that jazz. Story takes some pretty interesting directions as it goes along too. It gets a bit annoying to play at times though, all the chase sequences are wretched and the brightness throughout can be a bitch and a half
I will write a more detailed review but I have been a fan of RPG Maker Games for YEARS. The more recent ones have had a slight decrease in quality. However, I'd consider Cat in the Box to be the best RPG Maker Game of them all. This is not from an enjoyability state, rather how good of an RPG Maker it is. This game has phenomenal attention to detail, along with creative writing that doesn't obey typical RPG cliches. Play it.

Short, fun and fucking horrifying, Cat in the Box is incredibly succesful at what it sets out to do and I want to scream about the ending but I also really want more people to play it.
If you like other RPG Maker horror games like Ib or Witch's House, you may get a kick out of this.
