C&C: Red Alert 2 was partially responsible for getting me into video games at a tender age, but Command & Conquer: Generals - Zero Hour is what kept me engaged with RTS games through middle school and into high school, where I would eventually get into the Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War games, Company of Heroes, and the Total War series.
In classic C&C fashion, it's over-the-top, packed with gleeful, modern-day violence and destruction, and just damn good old-fashioned fun to play. Also, at the time, I was pretty sure that RTS games weren't going to be able to look any more realistic than they were in 2003, so maybe I was just kind of a moron.
Either way, this is THE definitive C&C game for me.

Generals:Zero Hour is just like a direct improvement to generals. you get everything generals had, but now theres different types of Generals leading factions of the world forces, it reminds me alot of old command and conquer in that way, where its focused on personality aswell as the warfare aspect. These new generals usher in significant tech advancements to regular generals. Lazers, Bunker-busters, Uranium depleted shells, Propaganda towers on tanks. They give you so many new toys to play with and all of them are fun to use.
theres also the new Generals VS mode, that gives you kinda storyline challenges up to a super boss(that for some reason they forgot to add as playable, but you can mod them in and theyre real fun)
praying this is remasted one day, it really really needs it
