There is no game, let alone a mod for a game, that has made me laugh harder than this. This is someone who has lived on the same warped side of the internet for the last 10-15 years and for that, they are welcome at every thanksgiving dinner with my family for at least the next 5 years.

on normal, this is legit harder than heroic in base Halo: CE. between the d20 grenades that might nuke the entire map, or a diamond-wielding Jackal who will backstab you, the chaos is insane. on Truth & Reconciliation, i had to turn it down to easy because i would occasionally damage my own troops so much that they would turn on me, and future spawns of them would also turn on me. watching 10+ marines turn on LMG SUPPRESSING mode at you is difficult to overcome.

the good:
+ some genuinely interesting weapon design, i hope they get a career at a game studio for this
+ good memes (subjective), that will make you laugh constantly
+ half-life references
+ re-designed cutscenes with some shenanigans
+ appropriate use of AI-backed voice impersonation

the ok:
+/- i think they added additional checkpoints if you die often in a section, although i wish there was a quicksave option. Halo: CE has a pretty frustrating checkpoint system overall
+/- genuinely frustrating in some sequences, but that's also OG Halo design issues

the bad:
- does not bring in halo 2/3 things, like hijacking or driving some vehicles, but i bet that's a programming challenge a bit too far for this mod

Would recommend lower difficulty and just enjoy the insanity.

Some of the changes are incredibly funny and caught me off guard completely.

In my many years playing games, I have encountered a wide variety of them. From the breath-taking ones, the arcade-like ones, the ones that emphasize exploration, to even those that encourage you to go fast. I have even played games that modified an already existing game and added new stuff to it. Whether that be new levels made by the community of said game, to adding in a fucking shotgun.
But never have I seen a mod this stupid, this hilarious and this unfathomably cursed.

Mainly developed by InfernoPlus, Cursed Halo Again is the third version of the Cursed Halo mod, but the first one to be accessible on the Mustard Beef Connec-- I mean, the Master Chief Collection.
Since I don't have Halo: Custom Edition, I can't really experience older versions of this mod, but from what I understand, this is pretty much the definitive version of it, even if InfernoPlus had to take away some stuff because of technical issues.

This mod brings new weapons, some new "levels" to the campaign and even some new cutscenes here and there!
Some of the new weapons include:
- A pissing gun
- Minecraft Diamond Swords, Crossbows and others
- A bent shotgun
- Throwable Warthogs
- Laggy Sniper Rifles
- And guns that say "pew pew".
That and much more. Many of the weapons are really insane and stupid. And some don't even really help you or can cause stupid shit to just fly all over the screen.
The absolute epitome of this are the D20 Frag Grenades, that have over 90 possible outcomes. Either they can cause huge explosions, a Minecraft chest to spawn, or... gulp a bunch of Hunters spawning. It can either help you or make you suffer.

The campaign itself hasn't seen many changes from Halo 1, but InfernoPlus did introduce some cool things, like new upgrades! By the power of duct-tape, Master Chief can now double jump!
This is an awesome power-up, and kinda made me wish the mainline Halo games had something like this. Although, be careful in how you use it, because you may end up skipping too much, and now the game won't spawn you enemies and you'll have to restart.
Master Chief also gets the ability to do karate kicks! For some of the new enemies this mod throws at you, this actually ended up being quite useful!

The biggest thing, however, that was added to the campaign was the Halo Kart Grand Prix. I don't want to talk much about it, because I'd rather people go play the mod for themselves and find out, but its related cutscenes are probably some of the funniest shit I've ever seen in my life. The stages themselves are also fun... but they're clearly not designed with the game's physics in mind, and because of this, I had to retry some of the courses a lot. The second to last course was so difficult that I decided to skip it.

Outside of that, there were some great improvements on the campaign itself. I doubt InfernoPlus could do much on some of the later levels, but one of the most notorious levels in the game, The Library, is now actually fun to go through!

The overall presentation of the mod is also pretty impressive! I've already mentioned that it adds new cutscenes, but Sgt. Johnson gets a lot of new lines here, courtesy of The Vocal Butcher, and it made me enjoy this character even more than I already did.

It wasn't a perfect experience, but Cursed Halo Again was a very funny one, and I recommend people check it out! Maybe sometime after they've beaten the original game, whenever they feel like adding a bit of spice to Halo 1.

A good balance of humour and interesting additions. It doesn’t outstay its welcome, which is very refreshing
