I hate philosophical games because i don't understand them

Review EN/PTBR

It's an acceptable deathmatch game, but it ended up being overshadowed by the numerous games similar that came out at the same time.

Fun deathmatch game but no match for other games in the genre.

I liked Day of Defeat on its own. It is a Deathmatch Classic or Half-Life Deathmatch reskin, set in a World War II setting. It is fast paced, responds well and can be fun to play.

You connect to a server, choose your side and join the action. You can play two game modes: Detonation and Territorial control. With Detonation, you need to plant explosives on the enemy structures and blow them up. With Territorial Control, you need to capture strategic points, dominating the map eventually.
You can choose various classes, each with their own loadouts, abilities and purpose. This way, a team can consists of various specialists which gives the game a more realistic feel when playing.

The action can be intense and the overall multiplayer feeling is stronger than ever with this game. It can be compared to games like Counterstrike and Half-Life.

The graphics are nice enough, although nothing special. It still runs on the same Source engine, that is used for many Valve games. However, like the other Valve games, the framerate is smooth as ever and no lag or tearing is ever present.

Sound effects are really nice. Gunfire from Kar98 rifles and machine guns feel on point and give a nice feedback in your ears. For me, sound is important when playing WWII themed games to get me into the action.

Control wise, Day of Defeat plays smooth, easy and fast paced. Aiming, shooting, running around, it all feels natural and responsive. Nothing to complain here.

The only problem I had with Day of Defeat, is that it is simply not unique enough. There are hundreds of games out there in the WWII genre, with larger player bases, more content and more replay ability.

So although Day of Defeat was fun, and there is nothing wrong with it, it just is not memorable and special enough for me to play for longer periods of time.

If this game were your only option for some reason however, I would definitely recommend it.

Envelheceu muito mal, mas ainda sim é interessante

Imagining a version of Call Of Duty 2 that plays like this and almost feeling sympathy.

Incredibly Underrated perfectly balanced WW2 game that's WAY better than counter strike 1.6 or any of the old WW2 Cod games, fuck you I hear you and your wrong. I wish more people played this game and the Source version (even though I play more of Gldsource for the British weapons). yes its janky but thats part of the FUN! and alot of my problems with other goldsource games are non issues here as the death effects and sound design is way more flashy and responsive it also helps that most guns one shot. Essentially imagine AWP sniping in 1.6 but with out the shitty scope in your or wobble and also you can prone dive. Just endless battles of hip fire quick scopes~ I wish valve revived some of there older mods ;--;

not as good as lego racers

honestly a lot better than I thought though i probably wont play this much though I do think its better than the original counter strike so thats something

aged like fucking milk, maybe sometimes kind of fun to play against friends in an empty server but even then it's only fun since everyone's competing to see who can overcome the jank

teaches you literally everything important about the war on a macro level. plays almost perfectly.

Thinking about it, out of the three adopted sons of Valve, Team Fortress, Counter-Strike, and Day of Defeat, this one was the only one that never received a sequel or anything other than a Source Engine remake, says a lot about Valve and our society.

Day of Defeat is a World War-themed shooter with a control point-type gameplay, it's honestly pretty rough and the gunplay feels very jank and like Counter-Strike it mostly relies on camping other players by waiting in a corner, silently, alone, and sad.

This game didn't do anything for me personally, but I guess online war shooters were lacking at the time, and it originally was a free mode for Half-Life so you can't complain about that, now as a standalone game it's pretty damn rough.

I wouldn't really recommend this game unless you have a weird GoldSrc fetish, but if you have a Source Engine fetish (normal person) you might wanna check it's remake with the shocking name of "Day of Defeat: Source".

doesn't feel like shit. plays like shit

Fun ww2 game but not perfect. Certainly not the best but really fun to play every once in a while

Function nearly the same as Medal of honor though this game might be a bit easier to get kills.

Positive: Amazing gameplay in the way you can engage your enemies in many ways.
