~The 1st Devil May Cry I've played and it was something that made me interested in playing the series. The game is unique, as I've never played anything like it. The intro is great and I really like the soundtrack.
The characters are super stereotypical but if you like the game-play you can put that to the side

Trish, did—did you... er... did you, like, get some...work done? Or something? You—you look good. You look...healthy.
Capcom horny era. Or Capcom extremely horny era.
Damn, bro. Dante is old.
Nero sucks. Until you realize you can pull enemies towards you, and then he rules. Honestly? In this game, he might be more fun to play than Dante. Just a little bit.
And his "From that day forth" speech gives me chills.
And I love the separate aesthetic that this game gets with a different—more Final Fantasy-like—protagonist that makes anime noises (I don't like anime; I like Nero).
Here's the thing: the Nero part of this story, and the way it's told, is very cool and inventive, but people just weren't ready for that in 2008. It's when you turn into Dante, and you have to go through the same parts you went through as Nero, that the game really just starts crawling a bit. Just a bit. I'm gonna be honest: up until the Dante part, this might be my favorite DMC game.
Next up, a Lady and Trish game, right? I mean, you said you didn't really want to make more traditional Devil May Cry games. So, let's not. A Nero solo game? Non-hack and slash Lady segments? Trish? ...Lucia? Right? Right??

This Game is much more fun than DMC 1 & 2 (2 obv), and possibly better than 1, Although the story is kind of weird and kind of boring, like I don't give a shit about Nero's girlfriend and nobody lol. And the antagonist is goofy.
The game has improved a lot since we used Dante, In both gameplay and story, Dante's charisma greatly accentuates the bad things, I missed his jokes since DMC 3...
Nero is good, interesting protagonist. Especially the duality he has with his arm and the denial of being a demon. He's not at the level of Dante or Vergil, but he's a good character
This game does not lose the essence of DMC, which I like, although in several scenarios... But its errors are like DMC 3, the level design is somewhat repetitive, the gameplay does not have much variety and Dante's weapons some are simply useless. And one thing that doesn't happen in DMC 3 is the difficulty, the normal difficulty in this game is a joke. But ey, devils never cry.
As soon as possible I will play DMC5, quite hyped to be honest.
The phrase "Jackpot" was missing...

a game with a crazy amount of tech, a fun story with a familiar face and a new character that honestly i didn't hate at all, i quite like nero, unlike dante the boy is mean't to be more agressive, and honestly after ''el DoNtE'' i guess everyone forgave the little guy.
still i prefer the third game, it felt more concise than this one, less gimmicky, i'm not a big fun of adding gimmicks to spice gameplay, specially when the game doesn't even need to do that, its already great for its combat alone
HOWEVER, i wish nero had a trickster dash...
