One step forward, two steps back. The story was a lot less engaging than the first entry, the gameplay however is much improved overall, most of the annoying stuff from the first game is gone, except for statisticians, which were replaced with a somehow more annoying mechanic, Felonies, if you know you know. My biggest issue with this game however, and the main reason it gets a negative score from me, is the level design, which felt much, much more uninspired and annoying, from enemy design and placement to the new geo-effects, it was kind of a pain to get through this game's story, which isn't necessarily a bad thing for this series as long as the post game is fun, since that's where the bulk of the content resides, but it wasn't, at least for me, I'm not dealing with Felonies, no thanks.

I've spent the past 15 years trying to beat this game; today I have finally conquered my white whale.

Story is eh, but people with 300+ IQs stay for the Adell/Rozalin romance (It's cute. Debate with a wall if you disagree). My fellow high IQ havers will also know Axel is the goat and needs to show back up in mainline games.

Gameplay is solid, typical Disgaea stuff; Made me realize how breezy some of the newer games are.
Pro gamer tip: Stage 9-2 + passing stronger enemy bills is and easy and quick way to grind.

Looking forward to when NIS remakes this in HD 2D style like with how they did Disgaea 1 (< wishful thinking)

More of the same, I liked it, it clearly had improvements to the first game, and now I'm just waiting for 3 to hopefully come to pc/ps4/ps5 (one of these) before I can continue the series. The main isn't quite as interesting as the first ones, but the supporting characters feel stronger.

Compared to the first game it asks more of you in the level design, which is a welcome addition — but overall I just couldn't get into this.

The characters are fun and I like our main couple's dynamic and journey, but I just sort of didn't care and kept feeling like the game was dragging on and on, which is strange since I beat it in half the time of the first game.

Maybe the ingredients just didn't quite come together this time?

They should have called Axel "Atlas" instead, 'cause he carried the entire game.

Easily the weakest cast in a Disgaea game, except for Rosalyn who's just ok and Axel that singlehandedly saves the game from being boring. Everyone else kinda sucked.
The story was just ok. If you're not invested in the relationship between Adell and Rosalyn you WILL be bored.

The gameplay is just more Disgaea.

Story had it's ups but, more frequently, had it's deep lows. The abrupt ending especially. The main duo are probably my favorite characters of the series, but it's not like the bar was too high.

Was fun enough for the hours I've put into it.

Might be a solid game, but given that I've still got Disgaea 4-6 on my plate still, I feel like I have to put this down and play some iterations that probably improved upon this formula at this point.

Not sure who I'd recommend this to, as you either played the first game and are interested in checking this out, or you're someone who probably has come in on D4+ or later and I can't imagine there's much reason to suggest going back to this. If you're one of the twelve people on Earth that are interested in this game and haven't played D1 or anything after D2, congratulations -- you may as well check this game out.

I didn't enjoy it as much as Disgaea 1, but the characters are nice and there's more systems than you can even imagine.

When tienes que derrotar al overlord but decides tirarte a su hija(y de manera indirecta a él también).

french character (gross!) but he's portrayed as a frog and also a sex pervert so that makes up for it Iguess,

Loved this game until I had the blackbox bug, I tried a mod but I'm very dumb for those and now the game always crashes, such a same that nobody is going to fix it.

first disgaea game I played. BUT HOLY SHIT IT HAS SOME COMPATIBILITY ISSUES WITH AMD

The threat of a bad ending really makes you less of a reckless butthole

It's Disgaea 2 (the best one), but on PC. Loses half a star because its got some weird bugs and some parts of the game look weird, particularly the menus and some of the text. It's still the same fantastic game.

Disgaea 2 PC is a 2017 sequel-port to the earlier port of Disgaea 1. That port....had it's issues! Let's be honest! I played about 300 hours of it, I can sure as hell tell you those issues. You can open my profile and find that review if you're interested, too! Albeit, I get faintly 'personal' in that review, which I know bothers people sometimes. I played this game for the entirety of the time my friends spent playing Elden Ring, though, which begs the question: why did I play this instead of Elden Ring? Well, number one, this game's easy to run Item World on in the background while I focus on my best friend who's computer is strong enough to ignore Elden Ring's glitches and bugs on PC streaming it. Secondly, I wanna play all of DS first! Can you blame me?

So, what's up with the plot? After our 'heroes' in Disgaea 1 'saved the day' (killed one of the rulers of Heaven and began a demonic arms race for power), we get a big Scale Of Conflict Increase where it turns out, oh dear, our actions in the first game made life a LOT harder for the average human! This is partially explained in a cute intro animation, where we are presented in 4:3 ratio some visuals relevant to the game, a theme picked up throughout the game by beginning each chapter with a unique TV broadcast based upon the upcoming plot points. Good news on the English dub, too: it's not as annoying as people say it is!

So, firstly, let's get into changes. Number one, and this is a fucking annoying one, you don't always return to the hub world! Sometimes, our hero Adell reawakens in the world of The Colloseum in the middle of the game, and later in the game there's another one I don't spoil since we aren't to spoilers yet. The big 'gimmick' of Disgaea 2 is the Felon System. You can use the Item World to make your characters Felons, which offer negative and positive rewards. For min-maxing players, this is a secondary way of levelling up, which you can do in a variety of different ways. It's also some cute flavor to the world, where your character has to be More Criminal to be Better in this world of Demons. Geo Panels return, too, with a few new effects to boot! There's Geo Monsters now, who sneak around and randomize the effects of each Panel during the battle. The Item World is updated some, too, featuring random encounters and the ability to gain emergency exits in trials by fire. Finally, the Dark Assembly is no longer Rank based! Go in there and do as much bullshit as you want! Ruin the economy, activate Disgaea 1's secret ending, or unlock new character classes for a small few of all your throwaway items.

Anyway, it's solid, but I can't see myself finishing it. Great game! Great game, don't get me wrong! But....eugh. Feels impossible to finish, lol, I just got stuck on a level way too late in the game to care.

No capitulo 3 a começa mudar.
