Great horror game with a lot of atmosphere and an engaging story about the strength in pushing through one's own cowardice.

“Don’t be afraid John.” racks shotgun

I'm going to preface this by saying horror games are not my thing because I am a CRAVEN COWARD. But this was the only horror game to keep me engaged enough to keep playing despite my inherent fear of screen pixels. Highly recommend for other people who do not like horror games.

Crazy good holy frick I ate Frosted Flakes at midnight for the full experience

Definitely prefer the first game over the others, largely tedious puzzles coupled and "combat". At it's best when it just lets the atmosphere and eerie little cutscenes play. The first game very politely lets you just get the other endings, while the others want you to replay practically the entire game. They're not long but they're not fun in that way.

Faith, started as a small game on the big sea of itch.io indie projects back in 2017, developed by Airdorf Games, the small game had a cult fanbase that grew when chapter 2 was released in 2019... Some time passed, and Faith was then officially distributed on digital stores, by no other than New Blood Interactive themselves, this was when Faith started to get bigger, and it also was when it received it's final, third chapter, that is way longer and has a overrall way better quality than the other two.

The entire game has an unique aesthetic of a 8-bit, atari game, that really works with the survival horror aspect. The story follows John Ward, a priest that has problems with his past, and his own faith. John then has his life taking a turn, when trials that really tests his faith begins to appear.

This game is amazing, it has an amazing atmosphere, reminding me alot of Signalis/Space Funeral/Hello Charlotte.

There is just, something about low poly horror games that really clicks with me and I love it.

Faith is a must play for any fan of this type of genre that I call "Nu-Survival Horror", an era that is really starting to kick off.

Really excited for Faith 2.

This 8-bit horror game is excellent! The atmosphere, sound design, cinematics, soundtrack, and gameplay are very solid and make this game stand out among other horror games (that I can think of at least). It's very lore-rich and generally delivers well in that aspect. There's low replayability but a great experience regardless.

The only con I immediately want to address is that it's too convoluted with its lore. Plenty of small, crucial details and background information surrounding each chapter make the overall plot confusing and unnecessarily bloated.

A horror game that has convoluted lore sounds good on paper, and I'd argue that Chapter II is the best out of the entire game due to how much world-building it does, but the overall plot is unnecessarily confusing when critically analyzed.

For a little background about me, I am a wiki editor for Airdorf-related games (primarily Faith) and tried to piece the overall plot onto character pages in a way where it's manageable to read and there are sources to back it up. Sources are crucial to figure out how one event leads to the next, why a character does so-and-so, the world-building of a location, and so on. In about one and a half years of editing and piecing together the plot (with much help from the fan community), I've noticed that the majority of details that amount to the grand finale for Chapter III are based around easily-missable details from Chapter I & II. Some information I had to look into the files of the game itself, reading unused notes from prior versions of this game, and other sources that are not referenced in this game at all. This would have been fine if they were nothing more than easter eggs or nods, but they seem to be important and contribute Chapter III's conclusion. With this in mind, it causes confusion as to why anything happens. In worst-case scenarios, it can appear that events happen for the sake of it. For a lore-heavy game such as Faith, this doesn't look good (or, at least to me, it does).

As I'm writing this review, Chapter IV is supposedly in the works and will likely build upon Chapter III. Despite this, I think the storytelling should have been retweaked. I'm not saying that the game should be case-closed and to-the-point in Chapter III; lingering mysteries are still great. I just don't believe Chapter III's build-up and conclusion should appear so "aimless." To me, I don't think it's necessary to hide such details in obscure places; places where I have to look away from the game itself and explore other areas. Maybe the intention or charm of the game is ambiguity; that's probably the focal point, but I think there's a fine line between choreographed plot points that build up to a conclusion (with, let's say, lingering mysteries or two sprinkled in) and random events that happen for the sake of it. I feel like Faith's overall plot slightly hovers the line over events happening for the sake of it. Luckily, the plot is not as egregious and scattered as Five Night's at Freddy's series, but I think a slight touch-up would make this game one of my favorites of all time.

As a small nitpick, the hitboxes of certain demons, projectiles, and the crucifix's range seem to be misleading based off the pixel graphics. It takes a bit of time to get used to it, and hinges on the player's fault for not being so swift, but I think a touch-up wouldn't be terrible. This nitpick is especially apparent to Miriam's moveset in Chapter II and, to an extent, the battle against Astaroth and Malphas in Chapter III. In a Good Christian Boy run, where you have to complete the entire game in one sitting, without saving, no dying, and achieve the best endings in all three chapters, your nerves would probably be in scrambles like I was against these boss battles. Takes some time to get used to, and eventually get the hang of it (I'm not mentally strong enough to complete this run again, so treat my advice like a grain of sand).

All in all, Faith is a great horror game, and I recommend playing it to whoever's interested in battling against demons and no-gooders with your trusty crucifix. Just a pro-tip: Don't think about the plot too much. You'll find yourself rummaging down a rabbit hole and become nearly as insane as I am. Have fun with it!

I have finished the unholy trinity. The game tells horror in a perfect way I love the cutscenes and I was genuinely scared at times. The art style and music sound so unique and it makes this a new experience for most people. The game is not very long so it is great that there is bonus content and multiple endings. I recommend it to anybody who likes horror games.

Juegazo increíble. El primero es mediocrillo, pero el segundo y el tercero me han dado de las mejores experiencias de terror que he probado nunca.

Esta saga de juegos me provoco miedo a muchas cosas

Yo: Tolero muy bien el terror
4 píxeles: Hold my beer

i got the master of mortis achievement like not even an hour into the game 😭😭

already loved the first chapter, the two others are so good too, i love rpg horror maker and this one is so good, the atmosphere is so uncomfortable but i was really into it, enjoyed every minutes of the game :3

For a guy named John he put most other horror protagonists to shame

I love you too, Gary, thank you for the RAIN OF SPIDERS

The scariest game I've ever played.

Played the game when chapter 3 only had a demo on itch.io.

A great game, all three chapters were fun and interesting although i do prefer the first one. I liked the simplicity and the story didn't hook me all that much.

Still a great game that deserves a full playthrough though

some are scary and some are scary!
