i have completed around 3000 level before the game got even "released". with the newer updates and the 1.0 release it just got so much better, the campaign too is done with so much passion, without a question one of my fav games.

This review is purely based on the campaign, the editor and custom level portion of the game is fantastic but in usual Maker fashion simultaneously a one out of ten and a ten out of ten.

I Wanna Maker's campaign is incredibly solid. It uses itself as an introduction to all of the potential mechanics and interactions you can find in the editor. While it does this it also hosts a decent sized fangame that's designed for new players to get into the subgenre. On that front, I can do nothing but appreciate what Maker does for fangames on an incredible level.

Each world of Maker has a specific theme which are all pretty great, hosting their own specific mechanics and using them to an interesting degree. The worlds have around 5-7 levels each with their own distinct premise and nearly all of them are quite fun. Each world also ends with a unique boss fight to round out the kind of fangame moments one can experience. The bosses in Maker's campaign are particularly good too, especially the final boss which uses the medium of a Maker game to make a unique, innovative, and impressive finale.

If you've never played a fangame before, start here and enjoy the journey you'll embark on. The ride never stops...

great !!! really cool how many creative things you can do with something thats really just a 2d platformer level editor

Even the Easy levels are infinitely more creative than what you find on Super Mario Maker.

Mario Maker for people without friends.

I Wanna Maker is the equivalent of Super Mario Maker for I Wanna be the Guy, and in my opinion vastly superior. It features the same concept of creating and playing various user-made levels, the majority of them, in IWBTG fashion, are mainly platforming heavy. There is a large amount of different types of levels, with them ranging to Boss Battles to Schmups. There is a variety of different features that the level editor allows, with a lot of it being pretty inituitive even for people who are not familiar at all with level design. Various gimmicks are directly included as well, such as TNT Blocks and different Gravity Fields, the majority of these features will be recognized by players in the Fangame Community, but are also quick to learn for those who are brand new to this side of the planet.

As someone who watched Fangames on Twitch a long time ago, seeing this game on Steam brought me back to something I had completely forgotten about. Just as Maker served as my reintroduction to Fangames, it serves as a gateway for new players to experience something they may have never heard of. I'm also obligated to mention that the developers are part of the Fangame community themselves, and have proven to take the consideration of players as well as their own experience and applied it to updating the game in a way that is both great for the community itself, as well as those who are on the outside still.

I Wanna Maker's greatest triumph is that it is also absolutely free. This means that any interested party never has to worry about gambling on if the game will be fun for them or not, you can just download it and play in a matter of minutes. In my eyes, IWM is a game that could easily be worth around $20, so the developers offering the entire game for free is quite an opportunity. I would highly recommend this game as the gateway to both amazing games, and an amazing community of players and makers.
