This game is brutal. I want to beat it but it takes several hours per run so soon I will be back.

You know those old Sierra adventure games where you were screwed if you didn't pick up some random thing at the beginning to solve a puzzle at the end? Ixion is like that in city builder form.

Unlike some other city builders Ixion is divided into levels where your progress carries over. It sucks when after working for twenty hours you realize you simply cannot continue working on your space station because of something you didn't do, or mine, or properly build in the first level, and you have to start all over again.

It's not that this game is difficult, it's that this game is unreasonably difficult. Time limits are razor thin, the AI for the cargo hauling robots is stupid, and even if you memorize the location of all the resources and build everything in the most space efficient way the game might bug out on you and people will refuse to pick up food and starve to death. I just wanted to have fun building a space station, not be penalized for taking too long designing the layout.

Really interesting and cool game, but it would benefit tremendously from a manual or even just a few tips. In my first attempt I ran into serious problems that by the time I understood them I couldn't really reverse them due to the scarce nature of resources.

The one big tip I would give is to harvest and store as many resources as you can early on, particularly steel, as you need that not only to build things, but you need a constant stream to keep your ship repaired, you can end up real screwed if you build too much too fast.

I'm enjoying it despite losing hours of progress constantly cause I make incorrect inferences in how to build stuff. Tying story stuff to a city-builder just hasn't felt good to me yet because of my trial-and-error approach to city builders.

Pretty fun little frostpunk-esque game. Went on way too long, and the final two chapters were basically just micromanaging my current resources, which was no fun. Great music and atmosphere tho.

Très cool simcity dans l'espace

Innovative survival city-builder with a good story, stellar soundtrack and some frustrating game mechanics.

Wow... We're doomed.

❤ :
- Stunning OST. I haven't been impressed in a while, and Guillaume David did a fantastic job.
- Really really cool story with great characters.
- Interesting exploration system.
- Beautiful graphics and build designs.

💔 :
- Can be very overwhelming as you have to do everything at the same time.
- You have to restart if you did not optimize your ship space.

Ixion is, at its core, a survival/management game with a prominent city building aspect, which can confuse some players into thinking the game is something it's not. It requires (and sometimes, encourages) reloading to stop a chain of events that will end with a game over screen, and it's not geared towards players that just want to create pretty stations at their leisure.

It has an interesting story, something unusual for these type of games, and unlike most management games it has a set chapter structure with no free roam/sandbox available.

Some balances issues are bound to occur with certain play styles, but overall I think the game offers a healthy mix of exploration and more urgent decision making. I think some more polish could be applied in terms of UI, which is itself quite good, but has a few areas where it can certainly be improved.
