Look, if you absolutely need a new Madden, this version is ever so slightly better than the dumpster fire that was Madden 21. Gameplay has a few tweaks that make things feel a tiny bit smoother, and Franchise mode has some small improvements. But man, EA clearly cares way more about microtransactions than making a solid game. It's loaded with bugs, players act weird on the field, and the presentation feels ancient. Unless you're desperate for a football fix, wait for a heavy discount.

Liked 21 a decent bit... this game was ehhhh

oh my fucking god are you kidding me? How do you fuck up this badly. This might actually be one of the worst games I've ever played. The game even bugged out when I was finally given a meaningful choice in the dogshit "story" mode.

barely had fun with this one

6/10

all of these madden games feel like the same flavor of oatmeal

Not horrible, but not great. More of the same every year. They force UT down your throat and the only way to compete there is to spend money on card packs.

they somehow made franchise even worse by trying to improve it. they try to disguise time wasting gimmicks as depth and then hope everyone congratulates them. and the UI runs like dookie. makes me sick. they should be ashamed!

Considering what Madden use to be, 22 is embarrassing. It feels like all they consider working on is Ultimate Team. If it wasn’t on GamePass I wouldn’t have tried it. Don’t buy anymore Madden’s until they actually try to make a good game.

Madden is probably one of the biggest scams out there. $60+ for the same game as last year, but more buggy somehow, and it restarts Ultimate Team so you have to grind and spend money all over again. Your time and money are best spent elsewhere

It's Madden but with annoying glitchy achievements.

Yeah this game is awful. Some of the worst gameplay I’ve ever had, and the game is destroyed by the INTERCEPTION ISSUE.

The 2021 NFL Draft and 2021 Free Agency was not worth it, I will never play this game again, I’m thankful for Madden 23.

I sunk a lot of time into this game (466 hours according to my PS4). For a while, I would log in every day and do challenges on MUT. The game can be addicting but suffers from EA's usual lazy bs.

Wasn't that good. Shouldn't have bought.

Aaron Rodgers should've been on the cover.

I wonder if any devs actually work on these games anymore, or simply code a few additional hairstyles and cleats each year, in addition to roster updates.

Mahomes and Brady both Smell!!!!!!!!!

I had a great time with this because I hadn't played a Madden game since Madden 2001. Compared to that this is amazing, but if I'm being honest it is ASTOUNDING to me that they make as much money on these games as they do every single year and all they've REALLY done is improve the graphics, add a super half-assed career mode that MOSTLY works, and a couple options that speed up Franchise Mode such as only playing the offensive snaps or big moments from an otherwise simulated game.

The story mode looks TERRIBLE. The Franchise mode is broken as fuck. If I had paid specifically for this instead of just catching it on Game Pass, I would've been pretty pissed. I couldn't believe how many features are still broken when they had already released Madden 23 by the time I finally played this one.

So. To be clear, this is a 3.5 game compared to Madden 2001. There is no way I would ever give this game series money on an annual basis though.

Finished Date is based on winning the Super Bowl with the goddamn Jets because that's who drafted me in the create-a-player story mode and winning the Super Bowl with the Ravens in a single season of franchise mode.

Another Madden game with no discernible improvements from the prior entry.

I thought I could give it try to learn how american football works. But I didn't get anything what happend.

buggy, not fun, stale, completely busted game.

why do i even buy these games anymore

I can't really understand the hate. However, I will preface this review with the admission that this is my first experience with the Madden franchise and I'm never one to dabble in EAs predatory Ultimate Team bullshit

So purely from a gameplay perspective - Madden NFL 22 is pretty good without doing anything special (some games did feel a bit samey). Presentation wise the game nails it and graphically the game is also spot on. Overall, I had a very fun time dipping into Madden and replaying some of the weekends games once or twice a week
