Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games delivers a solid, if somewhat unremarkable, party game experience. Featuring a roster of beloved characters and a variety of winter sports-themed events, it offers accessible fun for casual multiplayer sessions. However, the mini-games themselves can be simplistic or feel gimmicky due to the Wii's motion controls. While it boasts colorful visuals and a festive atmosphere, experienced players may find a lack of depth and replay value compared to other titles in the Mario & Sonic series.
This one is not only way better than the first game, but it may actually be one of the best games in this weird franchise, if not the best.
It is a pretty solid minigame collection with a lot of different Olympic events, plenty of replayability, a sort of story mode with lots of collectables and some legitimately great dream events with Mario and Sonic iconography and references to please fans of both franchises.
I particularly LOVED the dream figure skating event where you can play a Mario or Sonic themed performance, with Mario or Sonic music and set pieces. Perfect Chaos even shows up as an actual set piece / boss you have to defeat while figure skating, shit is insane.
If you are curious and have to play any of these games, I fully recommend this one over any of the other ones. It isn't a fantastic game or anything, but for what it is, it does a pretty good job imo.

unironically kinda good?! builds on top of the original instalment in the trilogy by expanding upon the characters and world of the original. a technical marvel, the designs of the set pieces exemplify the themes of the original perfectly. these themes are then built on top of but also challenged through the dream events. the original games philosophy vs this one's critique is one that i think about daily and apply to my life. while it somewhat lacks the intense gameplay of the original, the game more than makes up for that in SOUL. these are my favourite iterations of these characters and the game enables them to breathe and simply exist in this world.
