Vedremo

This is the fantasy of FF7's materia system, made flesh. Frankly more RPGs should just plagiarize their scaling mechanics from zachtronics games wholesale.

play this long enough and they’ll give you honorary israeli citizenship

Essentially a coding game, gets the noodle working.

The game is not bad at what it's trying to do, but I simply get no satisfaction from solving the puzzles. Stuff you do is very abstract, so it's not really rewarding. Like, 'Why am I doing this?'. So I decided to delete it after a few levels.

This game is really fucking cool. I wish I were smarter.

opus magnum is like the best parts of puzzle games, factory builders, and programming combined with a great aesthetic to boot. the bite sized recepies that make up the bulk of the game are great, they provide a constant stream of new puzzles to solve, and their short length avoids the problem that many factory games (and hobbyist programming projects) have of gradually becoming a fatiguing chore to work on rather than a fun activity.

you can of course brute force many of the problems in the game (and you will likely end up doing that for some of the more taxing levels) but leveraging the skills you built up - like the ability to recognise patterns in the desired output or understand what specific compact combination of parts suits the situation best - that's where the real fun is.

beyond the gameplay there is also a lot to like. the alchemical aesthetic adds a little pizzazz that's often missing from these types of games. the music fucking slaps, almost didnt notice how fire it was with how it creeps up on you. the story is surprisingly compelling, the Plot is nothing to write home about but the way the game doles out world and character building through little vignettes related to whatever compound you have to manufacture is a surprisingly engaging method of storytelling. and sigmar's garden - the little side minigame - is great fun as well

Zachtronics games are practically in a genre of their own, and as such require an understanding of what they are going in if you're to get any enjoyment out of the experience.

Opus Magnum, especially, is a mental exercise, forcing you to try and develop the optimal system for a given task while being judged on three criteria (space efficiency, speed, and material cost).

If you're someone who loves optimization and can stomach that kind of gameplay this is one of the best in the genre, but I can easily see anybody else disliking it on a fundamental level.

I find Zachtronic games to be very engaging for very short periods of time. I have to really be in that programming mood where I want to think hard and solve problems. You really have to be to get into his style of games, but when the mood fits it hits just right.

Opus Magnum is a bit more abstract in that you're building these little machines that move elements around and turn them into other elements - in that sense this is much more of a factory game than his usual fare.

It's not quite as challenging as his other works, and the variety of solutions to each problem creates a lot of room to explore different ways of solving the puzzles and refining through multiple iterations. Definitely one of the beginner friendlier titles from this developer and very fun if you can keep up with the mechanics.

no bro you don't understand. he made code golf fun for relatively normal people. He made people gaf about memory footprint, cycle shaving, and multithreading. "We adore chaos because we love to produce order."

The universal solvent haunts my dreams. 10/10

I think I have about two chapter of this in me every few years. This is my favorite Zachtronic puzzle game in a lot of ways, I think the core mechanics are very cool and the look of it is spectacular, but it's so so easy for me to get frustrated by the more complex puzzles. It takes so much effort to just figure out how to get atoms in place to be bonded properly it makes me want to curl up and take a nap. I salute people who will go all in on optimizing even the toughest puzzles, but I need to take another long break before tackling the last two chapters of the campaign.

I don't think Zachtronics makes any bad games. Haven't found one yet anyway.

The best of the zachtronics games, give this one a shot, do it now.

I’m not smart enough but still scraped by in the puzzles I tried

Didn't end up finishing it but I enjoyed optimising the puzzles for a while. Will probably finish some day.

TIS-100 a SHENZHEN I/O mají zase přespříliš ryze programátorský ksicht a tím pádem chtě nechtě působí nepřístupně.

A dokážu.

Stále vám to nestačí? A to i bez YouTube apod. Nuda a ohrání tedy nehrozí ani náznakem.

I wanted to see whether I had gotten the zachotronics bug from last call bbs. I realised without the structure and variety I had very little interest.

It took me hours before I realized I'm playing a programming game and having a ton of fun without knowing anything about programming

Have to come back an do it again.
The studio are their own gerne

Like many other zachtronics games, the design-puzzle aspect continues to stun and impress me. I enjoy trying to find creative solutions on my own but the real spotlight is appreciating the community creations. I'm proud to say that the puzzles I have solved (maybe 65-70% of them) have been my own solutions.

Couldn't stop thinking about this game between play sessions, the simplistic clockwork nature of the gameplay lingered in my mind like only the best puzzle games do. Solving the puzzles is never overly difficult, but coming up with a solution that's at least somewhat elegant is a fun challenge. The crisp sound effects and appealing visuals serve to make the game even more satisfying to play.

An excellent problem solving puzzle game.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

This was a really fun puzzle game. I loved the mechanics and the idea, but I'm honestly not smart, creative, or motivated enough to play this game. I imagine the puzzles get beautifully interesting and satisfying to solve towards the end. Overall great puzzle game.

Engaging puzzler with classic Zach-like design. A lot like programming, but requires a certain kind of spatial thinking to really wrap your head around. I'd recommend it to any puzzle game fan.

See, this is my kind of puzzle game because there's like, no way to fail and it's just all fun all the time

This game is fucking amazing. It's super replayable due to the cost-area-cycles split encouraging you to solve puzzles in the most optimal configuration for one of those choices. Most puzzles are easily beatable if you want to be inefficient in some way, so it's pretty difficult to get actually stuck, and even inefficient solutions are usually effective in one of those categories. Completing each level will give you the option to save a GIF of your machine working, which I have saved more than once because of how satisfying some solutions are to watch.

Didn't really pay much attention to the story because it's pretty intrusive. If you play this game learn how to use the hotkeys and the copy paste, since they are pretty important mechanics. Only regret about this game is that I played it instead of doing uni work too much.
