Red Steel 2 throws you into a wild west metropolis where you wield both a katana and a six-shooter. The unique blend of first-person shooting and swordplay is enhanced by the Wii MotionPlus accessory, making combat feel intuitive and satisfying. While the story is forgettable and the environments can be repetitive, the core gameplay loop of mastering swordsmanship and gunslinging is a blast, especially with a friend in co-op mode.

Un juego de acción excelente para la Wii, ambiente imaginativo, controles precisos, protagonista molón, lo único es que quizás es algo corto.

A GUN-WIELDING SAMURAI?? A KATANA-WIELDING GUNSLINGER?? MAN WTF WAS THIS GAME
I swear to god this shit was so batshit insane, rolling through ancient japanese dojos through a wild west setting, with ridiculous villains all whiLE SLICING A KATANA AND SHOOTING A GUN?? Like you would actually slice and shoot with the goddamn wii remote this shit was INSANE 9 year old me could not believe my eyes. This is literally a kid's dream, mashing together two historical troupes any little boy loves, with absolutely nO disregard for historical accuracy or even pragamatism in terms of combat. This is literally a kid's dream. I had so much fun with this, truly a unique piece.
I don't give a shit if I'm seeing this with rose coloured glasses and the gamplay was trash YOU WERE A SAMURAI WITH A GUN SHUT UP

Unique gameplay. You literally move the sword and turn enemies in pieces with your own hands. I would love a new red steel on VR.

also a goat GOD DAMN I WANNA PLAY THIS RN

Probably the most impressive use of Wii MotionPlus in any game. Switching between gunplay and swordplay is so seamless and the action is great

Este pinshe juegaso hora si que fue una secuela que supera a su antecesor, tanto visualmente como en mecanicas e historias uno de los mejores juegos del wii

the type of game built around "advanced" sword combat, but where you can also win almost any fight by just swinging your arms around with the most basic attack

also still racist

La inmersión que te daba la Wii en este tipo de juegos era maravillosa

everything about this game is an improvement over the first one. the gameplay is fun the story takes a backseat but is still present, and overall a very good game. a hidden gem in the wii,s library and a must play in my opinion.

Underappreciated. Once you unlock every move, the combat gets into Devil May Cry territory with cool juggling, dashing & satisfying gunplay.

Replayed for old times sake, still mostly holds up despite bugs and bits of repetitive gameplay.

It's sad how slow the game is to open up your full move set because it gets very fun when you're able to mix and match the different abilities and fly around from enemy to enemy, I just wish more of the game was like that.

I was reminded of the lost art of secret hiding in games, they are fucking devious with the hidden stars you shoot and I love it, more games should force you to appreciate the environment design like this.

Let's make sure we never forget the time Ubisoft kind of almost made a Platinum game, because it'll never happen again

One of the best Wii games not by Nintendo and it's deserving of a sequel. Amazing swordplay still holds up imo combos, guns it's great. Loved the art style too sort of borderlands cel-shaded.

Makes Red Steel 1 more of a prototype with how improved the controls are. Despite that, all of the fights are easily winnable with the matador skill and your fully upgraded pistol.

Don't bother getting the other guns, your pistol when fully upgraded is more than enough to help you in any fight. Though the TommyGun is a close second as it's a good cleaner for large fights, I cannot get over how bad the gun sounds. It's easily the worst I've heard of any gun in any video game. The other two weapons - the shotgun and the rifle - are both extremely useless as the pistol can do better long range and your katana can easily handle close range.

The graphics were nice for a Wii title and the game runs very smoothly at 60fps, but the mission structure was the same all throughout the game and none of the characters were even remotely interesting. Got bored of the game and moved on.

The first Red Steel was a highly anticipated on-rails shooter. Back when the Wii came out people were excited for arcade style FPS experiences it could bring home, but Red Steel failed on that delivery with bad controls, a bad story, and uninteresting enemies to kill. Ubisoft must have just thrown everything out the window because they took the same characters and put them in a Chinese/Japanese meets Wild West format with a new art style. There’s still not much content, and it’s pretty bland, but the use of the Wii Motion Plus is top-notch and shouldn’t be missed.

The story is pretty quick and basic. You are the last of the Kusagari clan who is trying to stop the Katakana clan from getting a hold of ore to forge another powerful Sora Katana. Yeah, pretty boring, the characters are underdeveloped, and the whole story is a toss-up. Nothing memorable here at all. You’re here for the action. The game has two basic mechanics, sword fighting, and gunplay. The game does a good job of auto-locking on enemies while you switch around with Z. Thanks to Motion Plus you can swing with 1:1 accuracy unlike any other Wii game out there. Hold your arm all the way back for a power attack, holding A+B allows you to charge your attack. Swing up to throw an enemy into the air and swing down to throw them down. It’s pretty cool to see and do, but you unlock other powers and moves along the way.

Shooting feels great and works really well. Besides shooting enemies you can break stuff open to collect gold which is used to buy upgrades, powers, and armor as well as health. There are side missions peppered throughout the game, but they are pretty uninteresting and by the end of the game you will just want it to end. See, the whole 1:1 sword fighting is fun, but there aren’t very many moves and the game is extremely hard until you unlock them all. The enemies are pretty generic, but there is enough variety to which you have to adjust your strategy. You can’t just go around flailing your arm about hoping to win. You also can’t use every attack on every enemy. There are finishers you can use and you must use these to your advantage. Some moves are nearly instant kill on some enemies, so learn which attack works best on what enemy.

The art style reminds me a lot of Borderlands, but it looks nice for a Wii game. While the art may look nice, it’s very bland. Just a lot of blank brown deserts and empty towns. The game is also very linear, while you can climb up a ledge to find some coins it doesn’t go beyond that. After about 1/4 through it just felt like the same thing and never ended. I wish there was more variety because the fighting system is excellent and shows how great the Wii can be. Once you beat the game it’s hard to have a reason to come back. There’s no multiplayer, but there are challenge missions.

In the end, Red Steel 2 gives players a solid fighting system, but it’s wrapped around bland level design, linearity, underdeveloped characters and story, and a sheer lack of content. That’s not to say the game isn’t worth playing, by all means, go ahead. The Motion Plus tracking in this game is fantastic and really makes you feel like you’re sword fighting and shooting a gun. If only Ubisoft spent 6 more months fleshing the game out more it could have been one of the top games on Wii.

Ubisoft really had something going on here, c'mon, there's still time to finish the trilogy
