played only the first two episodes

seems like a clumsier version of the original and i'm just gonna assume it doesn't get better

tinham um bixo que voava e meu primo chamava ele de shibitocoptero morria de rir

Not that great of a remake tbh

Very good, but not legendary like Siren 1 and 2. Graphics generally an upgrade, though I did prefer the original film grain look. Gameplay is a bit easier, and the story is not quite as compelling as 1 and 2.

kind of a weird self-parody remake that turns the game into something of a comedy poking fun at the 2000s American J-Horror trend. At the same time, despite trying to be more mass-appeal it really just feels like a One For The Fans deal, slightly lost in translation to english where the originals of those Americanised movies are less well-known than what was done to them.

The most interesting idea here was using sightjacking to see through the enemies' eyes and use that to avoid detection, but in practice sightjacking cut both the framerate and the field of view in half, making it really obnoxious to use. It also didn't feel that useful as just as just running or fighting were often more viable options, their downside being having to waggle the controller whenever the enemies caught up.

On the upside, the story and the ending were interesting in an incomprehensible way, the music was pretty good and the missions had a decent bit of variety to them, even if most were short and linear.

So underrated even though its more of a movie

Aged poorly and controls are wonky as hell but I love the Siren Series

Look at how they massacred my boy.
Still was fun to play/laugh at
Had a cool twist

without spoilers, wtf was this ending honestly I had to look up if I didn't accidentally unlock some sort of ufo ending like jumping the shark doesn't even begin to describe it
now as for my thoughts on the game, I like it more in concept than I do in gameplay and this has been true for other Siren games I have played as well the big problem with this one is mostly the frame rate any time the game tries to do something interesting the frame rate just shits itself also not a huge fan of any hide from the monster game
as to how I got this game ebay years ago for 15 bucks I think, which was a bargain even back then I don't think this game has ever been cheap I believe it's mostly due to just not being highly printed since its a niche horror game and above that it never got a physical release in America so the only physical release is from pal regions but the japan release siren new translation does have the English option included as well so if you want to save some money I think that might be a good way to go that being said my copy is just cursed lol cause it still has the receipt from the previous person and they also got it fairly cheap for 25buckarooos with GameStop insurance who tf gets that I never had an issue with a ps3 disc I swear the things unscratchable anyways iam rambling now honestly i don't think this game is really worth the asking price as unique as it is so honestly might be best to play on an emulator which i have no idea if thats possible or not but it sure would fix a lot of the problems with the game if it allowed it to run better

what if we remade forbidden siren 1 again but made it infinitely worse in every single way, it's the equivalent of the western remake of an asian cult classic movie

at least it can be kinda pretty occasionally when it's not smeared in bloom and constant screentearing

Americanised, streamlined and dumbed down remake of the original Siren for better and for worse. Blood Curse ditches the unconventional structure and obtuse mission layout which I would say is a large part of Siren's identity.

Recommended as an entry point, I played Blood Curse first but then soured on it after playing the original and comparing.

A weird remake that blends both Siren games together (even though it's really more Siren 1 that's being focused on here) that had the way cooler name Siren: New Translation in Japan.

Though with Siren Team doing this game too, the game actually feels less like a remake and more like a best-of collection that combines shit from Siren 1 and 2; like a sort of remix album after two bangers have had time to settle a bit.

Seeing as how it's basically just Siren 1 with sprinkles of 2, a lot of the plot is baaaaaasically the same, even if it has some neat (and weird!) changes. As a result, the ending is absolutely fucking insanely good and deeply satisfying, though it presents one point of contention with me; the plot is a lot easier to understand. For me personally, the fact that Siren 1 and 2 start out pretty hard to follow (with 2 in particular being labyrinthine at times) enhances the mood of those games a lot; Blood Curse feels a lot easier to understand, which reduces the mood a bit for me. Doesn't change the fact that Siren remains one of the few games to make me tense up like crazy. Sight-jacking is a helluva drug.

A horror game has rarely looked better. A Siren fan at a young age, when I first saw the trailer for this drop, I'd never been more excited about a video game. And even now it looks considerably better than most early PS3 titles. Everything from the gorgeous high-def reimagining of Hanunda to even just the lovely wabi-sabi title menus are so beautiful.
The sightjacking, once again, is vastly improved, allowing players to see through the eyes of their killers in a split-screen so they can move while being watched - Brian DePalma anyone?
My excitement for the game when I opened it on Christmas day 2008 was immense. And my joy whilst playing it was immeasurable.
However, this enjoyment only lasted two days, because the game was so damn short. Or maybe it just felt short because it was SO easy. By this point, I was familiar with the crushing difficulty and crypticness of the previous games, and so for this one to give me pointers everytime I did something it really wasn't hard - it almost felt like I just needed to push forward most of the time. The simplification of the first game's plot was probably a good idea for new audiences but I found the American characters to be incredibly annoying - there's something about their running around screaming "FUCK, FUCK" that really kills the mood. Sure their behaviour is realistic, but the stoicism of the previous characters, and those in the early Silent Hill games, were a key aspect of the atmosphere, allowing the player to project their OWN emotions onto their player-avatars.
Not a perfect game, but truly a cut above the average survival horror in terms of ideas and style, Siren: Blood Curse holds a place in my young heart.
