This game is honestly pretty fun for the first two acts. The last four really drop the ball but I'd be lying if I said this game was devoid of enjoyment. I honestly like a lot of the bosses in this game more than the Genesis version and Labyrinth Zone is slightly less terrible. If it wasn't so held back by hardware limitations, it would probably be on par with the Genesis version, but this one isn't half bad, even though overall it's pretty mediocre and the last few levels are just boring, like they were running out of ideas.

Not half bad overall. About on the same level as the genesis version for me. Doesn't reeeeally play like a Sonic game, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. One of the harder games in the series, and I did end up using save states to get through it cuz tbh I couldn't be bothered messing with the lives system. A fairly good time tho, didn't age THAT badly.

Plataformer clássico que bota de chinelo muito jogo indie em.

me faz lembrar do meu master system embutido com 100 jogos porcos nele

Master System Sonic 1 FINISHED! 9/10 yes I'm evaluating it with the limitations of the time and for a Master System game it's beautiful!

I took a bit of a beating because it had been over 15 years since I played, but this time I finally managed to get all 6 Chaos emeralds. The game has good gameplay, Sonic moves well, the deaths I had were mostly due to my error and some others were due to Real game... for example, a phase of climbing the waterfall, the screen goes up because I wasn't paying attention, I ended up touching the place where the game considers a cliff but I could still see a bit of the platform, others are the classic system of being thrown away When being hit by an enemy or projectile, I often lost my life because I was thrown into a classic game hole from the 90s.

The game has its limitations such as Flickering where several sprites start to blink due to having too much information on the screen.

Regarding the music, they are remarkable! Yuzo Koshiro's compositions are excellent! There isn't a song that I don't like in this game, they're all good.

It was fun to play this Master System classic again, it's cool to see how creative these games are because Sonic 1 on the Mega Drive came first, just after this one on the Master System and even though only 2 stages have similar Mega Drive themes, they are both different adventures. which makes each version more striking.

ODEIO SONIC OURIÇO FILHO DA PUTA🖕🖕🖕

Jungle Zone sounds like a Duck Tales Song making the game better than the 16 bit version by default

The absolute slog this game is to get through. I loathe this game with a passion. Once Green Hill Zone ends, you might as well tie the noose around your neck while you still can. I mean, Star Light Zone is better... I guess, but it's not good. The special stages are also fucking abysmal. If I could describe this game in one word, it's tedious.

Unironically the superior version of Sonic 1. The level design is less ambitious and gimmicky, which results in better tempo overall. The game also looks and sounds fantastic given the limitations, this was relatively late into Sega's 8-bit development history and it shows.

No es la versión de MegaDrive pero está bastante dikvertido pa echar una tarde

A versão de mega drive é muito superior, mas essa até que tem o seu charme.

It was a good effort for translating the 16 Bit game onto a smaller cartridge epically under the time constraints however their is difficulty spikes that make the game less fun.

100% - Max Special Bonus - All Special Stages, Collectible 1 Ups, Chaos Emeralds

The simplicity of the game works both in its favor and against it. I found myself getting annoyed with this version far less than the 16-Bit one, though there was also less spectacle in the gameplay, graphics, and music.

Finding the Chaos Emeralds in the stages is a neat change, not sure if it's better than Special Stages but it does promote exploring the levels (even if this version has less potential exploration). Additionally, this change makes Special Stages way less frustrating as the only thing you miss out on by missing or doing poorly in them are extra lives and continues (and points if you care about those)

I really enjoyed the sense of setting that this game uses, the zones tell a story in a way that the 16-Bit version fails to do, and the map helps a tremendous amount in this regard.

It's not the best handheld platformer, but it does seem more complete and enjoyable than the majority of its contemporaries

I didn't know this existed till recently it was decent.

Labyrinth zone e Scrap brain zone são uma merda

As we move toward a world where our console games get ported even to our smartphones, the art of capturing the essence of a home-console game on a handheld is becoming a lost art. Sonic the Hedgehog has some history with this topic, but it all begins with a game that takes the wheels of familiarity off, setting the stage for how future handheld Sonic games approach connections with their older siblings.

Solid version of the game that controls pretty well. While I prefer the original, it is definitely worth it to give this one a shot.

This game promises speed, but it's more about tricky jumps than blazing trails. Still, the killer soundtrack and colorful levels make up for it. Sadly, the old hardware struggles to keep up, causing frustrating slowdown sometimes.

extremely mid but still interesting, with good music and art. just held back by some all around questionable level design, and screen crunch on game gear

they finished making green hill zone and said
"uhhhhh what do we do now"

I remember thinking when this came out how it was going to revolutionize gaming. but then, I also never really got into it.

This is the best of the 8 bit games. It genuinely looks great, one of the best looking games of the 3rd gen in my opinion. It leans even less into speed and more into platforming than the genesis version, and mostly just plays as a sort of 3rd gen platformer with pretty decent physics as you'd expect.

Played it from time to time as a teenager but unfortunately never finished it. Even still, I really had fun with it back then. I actually think it was too difficult at one point and I just couldn't get any further as a young dumbo :D Maybe I should play it again, it is a classic after all.

it's the one i had as a kid, honestly in a way its better than the mega-drive version other than the graphics
