good, but it feels like it's missing some things
also am I tripping or do all bosses just outright refuse to let you use more than one consecutive arte on them before breaking out

The cast definitely carries this game, but that's not a bad thing. Worldbuilding and combat are also pretty good. Gaius is a super strong villain as well, one of the best in the series.

+ Majority of characters feel 3 dimensional.
+ Combat is solid, but with depth
+ Level up / skill system is customizeable
+ Multiplayer in a JRPG
+ One Story told in two different ways
+ Enemy design is diverse
~ Stories pacing is more fluid rather than set
~ Control short cuts are complex
~ Antagonists constantly shift throughout the game
- Millia's character / story is drastically underdeveloped compared to others
- Environments are reused
- DLC pricing on costumes is overpriced heavily

Wasn't too wowed, but I got distracted by another game and dropped this too quick to really get a feel for it. I liked what I played but felt like it was dragging a lot, and I want to go back and finish it eventually.

A game that was admittedly pretty rushed so it ends up lacking in elements like side content and the final part of the game is much too short, but gosh dang dude the combat and characters in this game are just fantastic. As of now, this game and its sequel hold my favorite cast of characters in any video game. The combat is super addicting too, every character is fun and there's so many options with what you can do. The story is solid too, not the best in the series but a pretty enjoyable time. Overall, go play it it's good.

I still listen to the opening it's a banger

Far and away my favorite gameplay of the franchise. Story a bit half-baked due to the split for X2.

Xillia is a solid Tales game. The gameplay is perfectly fine, but my problem is more with just how little of it I remember. It didn't really have an impact on me and as a result, I don't really have any desire to replay it. For as weird as Xillia 2 was, that one was more fun in my opinion.

I played this game for the first time 4 years ago and again this year, and I am STILL MYSTIFIED how one man can betray a party so many times and come back each time.

Underrated Gem on the Playstation 3. Despite the obvious rushed nature of the game, it delivers greatly on multiple fronts on what makes a good Tales game.
