by far the best version of tetris. a perfect concoction for the senses, a transcendental campaign, and infinitely replayable arcade modes to match any mood. it manages to take tetris (which ive always liked but rather passively) and make it something much more tribal and primal in some stages, and beautiful and serene in others. i adored every second. this is the first time ive really felt that 'flow state' while playing tetris, too. my only pitfall comes from a matter of skill; i still suck utter nards at tetris. skill issue, i know.

I have never expected I’d feel so emotional because of Tetris

I played SO much of this when I was in the hospital waiting for surgery and while I was recovering.

This is an outstanding VR game. One of the best I have played. I love the way it just gets the player into the moment and forget about everything the experience. I had some trouble with some of the levels, which was hard to continue to do while in the headset, but it was fun overall. I adored the music as well as the atmosphere of the levels.

played this with a friend the other day where it was slowly revealed to me that they had never played tetris and didn't know how to, fucked up

i don't know guys... the music just sucked terribly for the most part and the visuals ranged from lame to pretty good. i don't really share the consensus on this one.

I cannot set up T-Spins to save my life.
This game is beautiful. Tetris deserved a game this good.

I love Tetris, that much is obvious.
I played the original Game Boy version on Switch and I've had fun playing 99, too, as well as a tiny LCD game version and I thought I was set until I happened upon Tetris Effect for free with a PlayStation Plus membership.

This is probably the most beautiful version of Tetris I've ever seen.
I see myself as pretty good at the game so that wasn't much of a distraction from the gorgeous visuals.
Earth from above, ethereal jellyfish, dolphins that jump out of the water every time you get a line, it's all bloody marvellous.

Not to mention the soundtrack, which honestly rivals recent electronic releases. I might actually listen to the album on its own eventually because a lot of it sounds a lot like the music of Porter Robinson and Madeon.

Sure, single player Tetris might get a bit boring after a while but I love playing it and the changes every 35 lines keep me well engaged.

This is definitely my go-to Tetris game when I need some time to think because it really does the job and then some.

The VR Mode also really enhances the experience, too.

they did it they made Tetris 2

Possibly the best take on Tetris since the original one.
Furthermore, some levels provide an audiovisual experience unlike any other games.

This 5-star review is not earned entirely off the merits of this specific game. Rather, I consider Tetris Effect to be the definitively best version of modern Tetris, and Tetris itself is a perfect game.

Tetris Effect especially understands Tetris as a meditative experience. It enhances that meditation through gorgeous music that reacts to your placement of pieces, and ephemeral relaxing visuals.

Tetris changed my life, really. Tetris is a patient companion for when the mind is too chaotic. Tetris is beautiful.

makes me cry... like it's just tetris... but it's not just tetris... to me...

A beautiful marvel of a game. I'm unfortunately not good enough at Tetris to get past a certain point, but it's fun nonetheless.

Tetris but Colourful.

beat my dad at this so hard he yelled at me.

Playing this in VR is one of the coolest Video Game experiences! This game is a treat to all the senses!

This one blew me away. The levels are all so beautiful and each brings you to a different scene. It is a very cinematic game, built off of the simple guise of Tetris. A must play for any Tetris fans, or even to people that have never played it and want a relaxing experience. Multiplayer is a nice touch.

I dislike how fast it moves on the last level on beginner setting. It really ruins an otherwise fantastic version of Tetris for those of us who just want to chill and enjoy the basic flow of the game. If I wanted a challenge I'd switch to one of the other settings.

Tetris Effect finally after all this time led me to start enjoying playing this game, I always thought I just didn't enjoy it and just said I was bad at Tetris but the way Tetris effect is designed makes me want to keep going and not just give up when I lose. I was worried playing this game with its tagline of "experience the emotion" this game would just be a pretentious version of Tetris, but thankfully it wasn't and the main campaign of Tetris Effect is an enjoyable experience and one that I recommend.

Takes the 'universal' design of Tetris and then dresses it up with what else that word might mean. It can only do this with its plentiful effects. Swirling, sparkling stars, leaps from inner to outer space---the universe. Images of different biomes and cultures, difference genres of music and lyrics about how we're connected---the universal. It isn't subtle. More universal still is just the use of color, contrast, and movement regardless of intended meaning. I wish it pushed that further and simply played with pattern, movement, and abstraction more.

It has some variation and alternate modes, but what Tetris game hasn't since the 90's? It's about the lightshow, and it's pretty to be sure, but Tetris always struck me as a modest game. I'm not that good at it and never played it much outside of the arcade and Gameboy, but even in its time it was something quaint and efficient. All the glam in this rendition doesn't distract as much as I thought it might, but I don't think it adds a whole lot.

It's ostensibly Tetris given the Lumines treatment. But that was a game where the tempo of the music was a mechanic and the visual/aural mixtape structure felt better implemented or at the very least more novel.

very pretty but has helped me discover single player Tetris gets boring

An age old classic added with some cool music and visuals. Its my go to game whenever I feel sad and just wanna think. It allows me to space out while still focusing on something. I'm also a god at this game and could possibly be considered my favourite game of all time.
Thats me describing any form of Tetris btw just this one is just my most played.

Tetris effect has been an experience. It can be both relaxing and stressful and I absolutely love it. It has lots of content to keep you playing for a while and it's a must play for tetris fans, it keeps the experience familiar while giving it a twist for it to feel fresh enough for it to be compelling but not at the point where it changes it dramatically.
